An Insight Analyst is required for a PERMANENT role paying £34,139.86 per annum, plus £2,835.11 London Allowance per annum with the British Transport Police (BTP) based in FHQ, London.
BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing.
The role will be providing analytical capabilities and support to B-Division commanders & departments. You will act as their analytical and research expert, applying advanced and innovative analytical techniques to prepare and manage the delivery of high-quality products and research, leading BTP’s commitment to evidence-based policing in accordance with BTP’s strategic objectives.
As an Insight Analyst with BTP you will:
- Manage both quantitative and qualitative analytical work alone, as part of a team, or in conjunction with other departments.
- Undertake analytical activities and deliver analysis outputs, in accordance with customer needs.
- Provide support to the departments as well as the wider Analytics & Insight team in the delivery of a programme of analysis and research development aimed at informing improvements to BTP's operating model and service delivery.
- Assist in identifying good practice nationally and internationally, ensuring continual improvement.

- Experience of producing complex reports, both alone and as part of a wider team.
- The ability to liaise with internal and external contacts to establish and develop a two-way exchange of information and data.
- Excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical and research skills.
- Proven problem solving and creative thinking skills, with the ability to think outside the box and come up with new and innovative solutions to problems.

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme is awaiting formal approval and an introductory date is not finalised. The earliest this will be is June 2023.
