About us
Every year we look for university Interns from around the world to join Airbus. We need people with the aspiration, enthusiasm and the talent to help us move forward and to change the world and deliver our vision to pioneer sustainable aerospace for a safe and united world.
In the Digital Research and Innovation team all kind of different technologies like e.g. Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, or Metaverse are assessed and investigated for the use in the Airbus development chain. This starts from the generation of an idea solving a daily problem and ends with the full implementation with other departments.
The Digital Research and Innovation team is spread over five nations: UK, Germany, France, Spain and India. We work closely together to benefit from each other's concepts and solutions and spread them among the different entities. On a regular basis we provide a Technology report summarising the state of technology, ideation challenges and technology conferences. Finally we shape the innovation strategy for the future.
The specific role in this placement focuses on the UK manufacturing plant and the IT automation processes there. We need your support in implementation of the latest artificial intelligence processes to support our quality inspections.

What you will be doing:
- Based on data modelling provided by IT, with a focus on business needs, extract and integrate both structured and unstructured data from various databases/data-stores;
- Develop, test and implement the most suitable analytical models to identify meaningful patterns or trends from complex data sets and types;
- Implement the analytics pipeline against the business needs;
- Analyse and improve regularly the accuracy of models against business needs;
- Communicate findings through effective and easy-to-understand data visualisations adapted to the audience;
- Be the interface between their functions, the data ecosystem and the requested solution;
- Coach the function in the data-driven mind-set
- Actively contribute and share best practices, findings, and techniques with the wider data community.
Requirements:
Our placements are open to Undergraduates only . Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

Successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree programme, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering;
- Knowledge in programming skills;
- Fluent in written and spoken English;
- Enthusiasm to solve complex challenges, eagerness to learn and an open mindset go a long way.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance OR You will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check).
