The University of Warwick launched its Innovation Strategy in January 2020. Inherent within this is the aim that every student will have an opportunity to engage with innovation as part of their Warwick learning experience by 2025. Warwick Enterprise is now seeking an enthusiastic academic developer to work with us to fulfil this mission and contribute to teaching and learning excellence across the institution.
You will be passionate about enterprise education and the potential of the incoming Knowledge Exchange and Global Impact agenda to develop students’ innovation capabilities. You will have a track record of supporting peers and other academic colleagues evolve their teaching, learning and assessment practices to stimulate student engagement with innovation within their own discipline or as part of trans-disciplinary groups. Connected to this you will work with other core university functions to align Innovation Group activities within other institutional improvement initiatives that relate to the Warwick curriculum and the broader student experience.
As an advocate for students as co-designers within the learning process, you will manage and develop a small team of hourly paid Innovation Fellows (current students passionate about innovation and entrepreneurship in all its forms). Your leadership will ensure the student voice continues to be an integral part of how Warwick Enterprise evolves its offer to meet and exceed expectations, and positive outcomes for students and graduates.
You will be motivated to work as part of a small team to pioneer approaches within this exciting new agenda. You will be committed to the higher education sector and be able to demonstrate a creative approach to new challenges and opportunities as they arise.

Job Description
To be responsible for working in partnership with academic departments to build capability for student engagement with innovation as curriculum is re-designed and developed. To measure and monitor impact of provision and sector developments responding as appropriate to ensure continuing excellence of provision in line with the University’s Innovation and Education Strategy. To make a significant contribution to the dissemination and sharing of good practice across the University, and promote recognition schemes that celebrate excellence in enterprise education.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The relative split between the key responsibilities outlined below will be reflective of the annual academic cycle and opportunities that may arise.
1. Lead, develop and deliver appropriate learning and development opportunities, and instigate new initiatives.
- Lead on the identification of development needs in response to strategic, local, sector and professional / technical drivers or legislation.
- Act as a source of expertise and guidance on the Knowledge Exchange Framework and Knowledge Exchange Concordat, and how these connect with education and opportunities for students.
- Programme manage, design, develop, deliver, review and evaluate an expanding provision of activities and programmes to support the professional development of academic staff. Ensuring synergy and co-ordination with other programmes and services (specifically, Academic Development Centre (ADC) and Warwick International Higher Education Academy (WIHEA).
- Effective tracking and recording of provision and reporting and evaluation of impact in short, medium and longer term, ensuring feedback and learning informs future provision and supports agile and responsive support.
- Encourage, establish and develop relevant internal and external collaborations as appropriate to support delivery of high quality, relevant, cost effective and sustainable provision.
- Input to the formulation and development of learning and development strategies, processes, policies and plans (e.g. Curriculum Review Framework and relevant support toolkits)
2. Project management, consultancy and change support in learning and teaching.
- To be responsible for planning and managing a range of strategic projects related to the enhancement of innovation in learning and teaching.
- Undertake departmental / University wide enhancement projects. Working closely with academic colleagues and engaging fully with all relevant stakeholders, to plan, design, deliver and evaluate services, where appropriate utilising existing resources or aiming to develop sustainable resources for future use.
- Direct, lead and project manage discrete initiatives/ projects from initial conception through to successful delivery. Working closely with stakeholders, identifying and assessing appropriate measures of success.
- Design and development of inclusive and sustainable resources to support blended provision.
- Contribute to institutional level working groups and/or committees on matters of L & T and represent the University at external L & T events
3. Enhancement of academic practice and pedagogy.
- Provide relevant academic staff development and make a significant contribution to the dissemination and sharing of good practice at Department, Faculty and University levels, with the overall aim of supporting student learning.
- Provide strategic leadership for enhancement of learning and teaching through a range of CPD activities and projects.
- To present papers, lead seminars/workshops and deliver CPD in teaching and learning on a frequent basis.
- To keep a watching brief on national policies and priorities; to maintain and enhance their specialist knowledge and understanding of learning and teaching issues in higher education, interpreting the impact / opportunities of such information / changes on their relevant programmes; and to contribute to the enhancement of research and investigation in areas of enterprise education and pedagogy within the University.
- To support staff members acquire national and / or international recognition for their teaching practices; in particular the Enterprise Educators (EEUK) Fellowship
- Working, when appropriate, with other HEIs, within the region, nationally and internationally (in particular the EUTOPIA network and Monash University). Associated activities may include exchanging information with counterparts in other HEIs, attending network events, conferences, and undertaking continuing professional development.
4. Collaborative working and team effectiveness.
- Co-ordinate and develop a team of Innovation Fellows. These are current students employed to co-design, develop and deliver innovation related learning opportunities to their peers.
- Contribute to the effective running, development and reputation of the Department.
- Providing high level of support to the academic community, sharing knowledge and learning within the Department, working flexibly, collaboratively, inclusively and respectfully.
5. Budget management.
- Effective planning, management, monitoring and reporting of spend against allocated budgets / funding streams, forecasting future requirements, identify future efficiencies, highlighting and responding to issues ensuring best value for money provision.
