Salary: up to £54,000 depending on skills, knowledge and experience which will increase to £57,864 on achievement of full competence + 20% unsociable shift allowance
Main Location: The Elizabeth Line Maintenance Depot, Plumstead
The Infrastructure Maintenance Delivery Supervisor (IMDS) is primarily responsible for the supervision of a team of Maintenance Technicians to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of:
- programmed infrastructure and asset inspections (including safety of the line and safety critical assets)
- asset monitoring, maintenance and fault response
- like-for-like renewals and enhancement works
- quality check and audits
- asset data management
The IMDS is also responsible for ensuring that their team is fully trained and competent and that the team members maintain their technical competence and discipline profile. The IMDS will also manage key performance measures including safety critical deployment and the delivery and quality of work. The IMDS will also support the strategic prioritisation and resourcing of work, in conjunction with the engineering and planning teams.
Key Accountabilities:
- Supervise team of Maintenance Technicians
- Manage the delivery of critical asset maintenance
- Lead the delivery of necessary strategic interventions in line with defined standards and procedures
- Manage maintenance resource deployment, ensuring that the operational outputs align with the maintenance engineering asset management requirements
- Deliver a compliant, safe, operable and maintainable railway, including the undertaking of rostered and on-call duties
- Ensure that Maintenance Technicians deliver quality maintenance engineering and safety management requirements. This includes delivery of part of the asset management strategy
- Ensure Infrastructure and Asset maintenance standards are adhered to
- Lead the continuous development of the Maintenance Technicians through an established programme of training and continuous professional development in association with the Infrastructure Maintenance Engineers
- Continuously monitor and resolve skills-gaps issues and develop long-term strategic recruitment and retention plans
Knowledge:
- Desirable Higher / National Diploma or equivalent qualification
- Desirable Member / Associate / Technician of a relevant professional institution
- Desirable Understanding of railway and various rail industry agencies
- Demonstrable Application of railway safety-related standards, regime and processes
Skills:
- Team leader experience with leadership skills to motivate professionals from multiple disciplines.
- Excellent communication skills with proven negotiation and influencing skills, including with external contractors
- Excellent decision-making and analytical skills
- Established risk management skills.
- Ability to formulate and articulate a clear vision for the planning and delivery of initiatives and programmes
- Ability to supervise challenging, complex and safety critical projects
- Managing a Team with a Maintenance Schedule and fault response duties
Experience:
- Working within an operational control centre Environment & Communications Equipment room.
- Specialist knowledge of Railway telecommunication systems, including knowledge of IP Based systems and how they are implemented.
- Substantial experience with Data Networks, Telephony (VoIP / Help Points), PAVA, CCTV & Radio in a railway environment.
- Working with Servers and workstations.
- Working with remote condition monitoring and network management systems.
- Experience in maintaining and faulting Railway telecommunication systems.
- Team Leadership experience
