If you are looking for a large-scale challenge, then this role at Oxfordshire County Council may be precisely what you're seeking.
About us
Due to innovative partnership working between the private and the public sector, OCC’s investment programme is expected to run until at least 2031, providing an unparalleled opportunity to immerse yourself in the heart of a county-wide challenge. And as the UK's 12th fastest-growing city, it's an opportunity that we are determined to deliver. Join us, and you will be central to making this happen.
This role sits within the Growth and Economy directorate and supports the delivery of a secured £600m+ capital infrastructure programme over the coming years.
About the role
You'll provide invaluable support to Project Managers, helping to oversee the delivery of major transport projects from design to construction - ensuring each one delivers against challenging value-for-money, quality and time targets.
In this visible role, you'll get the opportunity to develop and lead projects of your own covering programme and budget management, management of design consultants, design approvals, procurement, stakeholder communication, corporate governance and funding release.
About you
As an ambitious professional, you'll be supporting specific aspects of multiple schemes and projects, managing cross-team project monitoring, planning and control tools. We'll also look to you to build and maintain relationships with key strategic partners, senior council directors, politicians and operational teams.
We're looking for sound experience working in large, complex transport engineering projects. A proven track record of supporting complex infrastructure projects is key, as is strong commercial acumen and natural team skills. If you have a qualification in the relevant discipline, or substantial experience in the relevant specialist field of work, that would be an advantage.
Rewards and benefits
Working in local government has never been more interesting, innovative and challenging. The commitment of our teams to public service - in everything from social care to schools to infrastructure - is inspiring to see.
In return, we've invested real time and resources creating an environment where people flourish professionally and belong personally. We have also developed a rewards package that will make a really positive all-round difference to your life inside and outside work.
Rewards package:
Up to 32 days' annual leave
Excellent pension scheme, with employer contributions of up to 19.9% of salary
Relocation expenses of up to £8,000 for eligible new starters
Flexible working arrangements
