The Role
Our centralised corporate services departments operate on a global scale, but work like a local team.
Combining their experience and expertise, they work collaboratively with the aim to continuously improve our vital people and business functions.
Our global IT teams support the computer systems, networks and video infrastructure that is vital to Shearwaters success. We are currently expanding our IT capabilities to meet the needs that our business growth requires.
The role of the IT Support Engineer is instrumental in supporting the HPC environment for our in-house processing and imaging team as well as our offshore operations - ensuring continuity and reliability of service.
With on-prem data centres in Gatwick and Redhill, onboard our fleet of Seismic acquisition vessels globally, and, in the cloud, this role provides technical hands-on support to the business and our employees.
We are looking for an individual who has experience and knowledge in Linux system administration, computer hardware, and cloud experience, who will be able to join our global IT team and help us continue to support the business that is actively expanding our technology portfolio to meet the seismic exploration challenges of the future.
The role is based in our Gatwick office, with the opportunity to travel to global sites as and when required.
Duties and responsibilities
Day to day support of the HPC environment includes;
- Hardware support for HPC CPU and GPU processing cluster
- Enterprise Storage including Lustre filesystems
- Infrastructure Servers
- Tape servers & drives
- System installations and upgrades
- Service Desk Management of User requests
- Support of HPC Job Scheduling (SLURM, Moab/Torque)
- Troubleshooting technical IT issues
- Ensure continuously up to date with Technology developments within the IT industry
- Travel to other sites, onshore and offshore are required
Qualifications
- Ideally educated to a degree level, however, if you do not hold a degree work experience in computer science or a similar role will be taken into consideration.
- Linux system administration and Storage systems
- Exposure to Cloud environments e.g. Google, AWS
- Understanding of computer hardware, servers, and Enterprise storage systems
- Knowledge of deployment and automation tools, xCAT, Ansible
- Knowledge of Git, Python, scripting
- Monitoring systems
- Network – Cisco, DNS, DHCP, Authentication
- ITIL Foundation
