Job description
We are looking for an Industrial Designer to join our team as a member of ICON Visual. They will have the opportunity to work with new and existing clients to design and redesign spaces. The ideal candidate will have both educational and working experience in design. This position encourages and expects an individual to enjoy and be experienced in working autonomously.
Primary Responsibilities
· Work alongside the design, graphics, and production teams throughout the project cycle
· Collaborate with our fabrication partners
· Transform initial briefs into concepts for new products, considering current market trends and opportunities that meet aesthetic, cost, and delivery goals
· Create concept sketches by hand and using drafting software
· Prepare complete specifications, including production-ready part files and drawings and a list of materials and estimated costs required for production
· Make presentations and consult on designs with clients, design committees, or product development teams
· Continuously seek opportunities to improve the product by presenting designs and implementing feedback
· Generate creative resolutions to production issues and market feedback; update designs and incorporate findings into future concepts, and execute continuous & preventive plans
· Innovate, improve, and guide development of new or existing manufacturing processes
· Conduct quality checks once jobs are completed
Skills, Experience and Requirements
· Post-secondary education in a related field of design
· Previous experience in an industrial designer role is an asset
· Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and constraints
· Advanced experience with Office (excel, word) and Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
· An excellent understanding of various fabrication methods, machining & assembly
· Solid understanding of manufacturing processes to evaluate base costs
· Strong cross-functional, project management capabilities
· Ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives without supervision
· Experience managing multiple work streams in a dynamic global environment across multiple seasons
