Independent Copy Editor/Proof-reader (Healthcare Consultancy)

As a result of the rapid growth of the company over the last 4 years (over 100% increase in revenue 2017 to 2021, Communique and PMEA industry award-winners 2016, ‘17, ’19, ’20 and ‘21), the breadth & depth of the client base and the complexity and sophistication of the client projects, Uptake is looking for Copy Editors/Proof-readers for multiple projects across global healthcare clients on a freelance/project basis.

Key responsibilities:
- Writing and editing numerous documents, ranging from blogs and content for workshop facilitation slides, to articles and company statements
- Complete sense, grammar and consistency check of client documents including complex medical / marketing terminology
- Workflow coordination of writing, editing and proofreading requests across all clients and projects, delegating as appropriate
- Apply client-specific style guides to relevant documents
- Coordinate with project managers and design team to ensure project deadlines are met
- Handle sensitive and / or confidential documents and information
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills with a sound knowledge of English grammar and spelling
- Understanding of US versus UK English and the ability to translate from one to the other
- Meticulous and methodical approach to work with a strict eye for detail
- Competency in PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook to a professional level
- Excellent organisation and time-management skills with the ability to multi- task and work to a tight deadline
- Strong team-orientated approach with a positive, collaborative attitude, supportive of other colleagues when needed
- Flexibility and understanding to people, situations and clients
- Ability to proactively plan and prioritise workload on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, managing competing priorities, communicating and flexing as necessary, delivering outputs on time and identifying future issues
Qualifications and education requirements:
- Education: Qualification in a relevant subject such as English language, English literature, creative writing or other
- Knowledge of healthcare and / or marketing terminology would be an advantage
