Mermaids Coffee Shop & Roastery is looking for a highly motivated, coffee obsessed individual to join our friendly front of house team.
Mermaids is a unique speciality coffee shop & roastery, roasting and serving our own coffee, nestled on the banks of the River Hamble in Premier Universal Marina on the Swanwick to Warsash footpath. Being part of the marina community, we are looking for someone able to build a rapport with our regular customers, ranging from boat owners to on site business tenants to dog walkers. Yet at the same time you should enjoy the buzz of working at a busy venue popular with local coffee enthusiasts. If you have a boating background to help you in building a rapport with the marina community this would be an advantage, but not essential.
Previous experience working as a Barista would be advantageous, although full training can be provided for the right candidate with an interest in speciality coffee.

Skills and requirements:
- A genuine interest in and passion for coffee and the enthusiasm to share this with customers
- Good knowledge of coffee, from brewing to regions and varietals
- Able to work independently and supervise other staff
- Good spoken and written English
- Great customer service skills
- Ability to work at speed and under pressure
Responsibilities:
- Making coffees on our La Marzocco espresso machines
- Using the till
- Assisting with food prep if required
- Coffee shop opening and closing procedures
- Supervising a team of three to five staff on shift
- Provide consistently excellent customer service
- Cleaning Duties
This is a full time position working 5 days a week from 8am to 5pm. Working days are negotiable but must include a minimum of one weekend day.
