Torus is seeking an Income Officer to join the Income Services Team.
The purpose of the role is to deliver a high-quality Income Management Service to Torus customers.
To ensure that the organisation maximise its income and play a major role in ensuring the team achieves its income targets. Providing a professional, high quality income management service to all Torus customers by assisting customers to maximise their income, whilst taking prompt action when there is non-payment to protect Torus rental income streams
This is an important role in which you will:
- Deliver a comprehensive rent collection service by monitoring a case load of rent accounts for customers in arrears.
- Managing the arrears process in compliance with Torus Policies and procedures.
- Identify support needs of our customers, offering basic welfare advice/ guidance and making referrals to Tours Foundation or signposting to external agencies.
- Ensure that appropriate legal action is taken to recover debt including, if required, representing Torus at court proceedings and evictions
- Engaging with external agencies, e.g. local authorities, Department for Works and Pensions, when required.
- Developing close working relationship with the Neighbourhood Team.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience in income management or debt recovery/collection (preferably in a social housing environment)
- Excellent customer service skills
- A working knowledge of welfare benefits
- To be a self-starter with a proactive approach and possess the ability to work without close supervision
- To have effective decision-making skills, a diplomatic and confidential approach and the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
- Be able to work well as part of a team
- Have good ICT skills
