Position Summary
We have an excellent opportunity to join the Supply Chain team at York as an Import Solutions Manager overseeing a team of shippers and taking on responsibility for smooth flow of stock from rest of the world into the UK.

A day in the life of Import Solutions Manager
As the Import Solutions Manager you will be responsible for ensuring all customs and regulatory processes are followed and understood to successfully allow stock to flow smoothly between rest of the world and UK whilst ensuring compliance with all UK legislation. You will also plan and support the development and training of the team to ensure a best in class, sustainable, value adding function.
- To be the lead operational contact for all relevant categories/companies for the customs and regulatory compliance for ROW-UK stock movements (including direct to customers and consumers).
- To develop, lead and coach the team, ensuring adherence to best practice and driving a customer service mindset whilst also managing the annual people process and people agenda for the Imports team.
- Understand communication and information flow between Port Health, APHA, HMRC, DEFRA and all other relevant authorities to ensure Nestle's compliance with all UK importing requirements.
- Ensure the team and the customs brokers provide and record accurate and timely documentation / customs clearance to allow the smooth importation and delivery to the relevant UK destination
- Secure new carriers for lanes, negotiate new rates and spot rates in line with demand from the Markets not covered by THUB
- To own management of all market GSIs (General Shipping Instructions), reviewing any relevant updates and ensuring the team and all key stakeholders recognise the requirements and that they are updated and distributed to the relevant markets.
- To focus on reducing Detention and Demurrage charges year on year as a result of process inefficiencies to deliver significant cost saving for the categories.
- Work with key importing carriers/hauliers to maximise service and cost for the Categories. By ensuring adherence to key KPIs and Matrices which should be reviewed in periodic reviews to drive accountability as well as best in class for our customers.

What will make you successful
We are looking for someone that is comfortable leading a team as well as working with stakeholders both internally and externally. The successful candidate will ideally have a background in logistics or DSP and can demonstrate knowledge of international trade practices and procedure.
- Proven ability to lead and develop others
- A customer service mindset
- Knowledge of Windows systems and preferably SAP
- Experience of international shipping and BREXIT legislation would be beneficial
- Experience of transport buying would be beneficial
