We are currently seeking an Import Operations Manager to join our team at the Felixstowe Distribution Centre. This role will be responsible for end-to-end freight forwarding operations, handling around 1,000 containers per month of frozen cargo.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all import operational processes and ensure customs compliance and training for the import team
- Liaise with Port Health/Veterinary Authorities to ensure compliance and smooth processing for fast delivery
- Meet customer KPIs and lead quarterly reviews for all import customers
- Hold regular face-to-face meetings (in-person or via video call) to ensure customers have a clear understanding of account performance
- Work closely with senior management and the commercial team to grow the department in the core business
- Coordinate with our owned cold storage warehouse at the Felixstowe Mega Distribution Centre
- Ensure excellent customer service, with a focus on maintaining positive partnerships with both customers and suppliers
- Act quickly and effectively on any non-conformances, ensuring full process review and improvement where necessary
- Lead and maintain monthly documented management meetings
- Take responsibility for aged debt for the import team
- Ensure the security of all data and compliance for our AEO, BRC and ISO accreditations
Requirements:
- Previous management or supervisory experience within the industry
- Customs clearance experience
- Experience in handling foodstuffs/reefer/products of animal origin
- Strong leadership skills, promoting a positive and safe attitude with the team
- Excellent time management and ability to work to fixed deadlines
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to build relationships with current and future customers
- Flexible and open-minded to change
- Proficient in MS Office
