Job description
- Carrying out editorial/author revisions and corrections to illustrations in a timely and efficient manner whilst safeguarding in-house style and conventions
- Redrawing author-supplied material, including general diagrams, graphs, maps, CONSORT diagrams, charts, timelines, forest plots and cellular/anatomical illustrations into house style.
- Resizing , cropping, retouching and colour-correcting photographs on a fast turnaround ad hoc daily basis
- Adhering closely to detailed illustration style guides, conventions, written procedures, and use of house colour palettes.
- Creating and maintaining a graphic library of Lancet content for future reuse
- Managing workflow using our content management system (WoodWing Studio) and in-house Editorial Management system.
- Recognise Understanding the importance of precision and adherence to detailed style conventions
- Have excellent attention to fine detail and understanding of the importance of style adherence
- Have a good understanding of the 4-colour printing process and web publishing
- Have a good understanding of industry-standard proof marks (BS 5261C: 2005)
- Display a deep knowledge of using Adobe Acrobat to convert and manipulate files
- Please note that this is predominantly a technical/scientific illustration role for which work is governed by established style conventions but may on occasion require some creativity within the bounds of house style. This is not a trainee role as we are looking for someone who can produce high-quality work upon joining.
- The role will not be suitable for candidates from graphic design, freehand illustration, or animation backgrounds.
- Ability to demonstrate extensive skills in Adobe Illustrator in producing precise, accurate, and consistently high-quality work
- Note: a timed illustration test will form part of the interview process
