Main Job Purpose

To check and maintain the school’s ICT resource for safe, effective use by students and staff.

To keep appropriate working records of hardware and applications, and of support requests and actions taken.

To implement procedures and provide technical support in line with the school’s ICT support service definition.

To support and advise students and staff in the appropriate use of ICT.

Responsible to Trust IT Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES:

MAIN DUTIES/KEY TASKS

1. To ensure the Academy’s ICT problems and queries are dealt with promptly and effectively.

2. To ensure that the ICT facilities are set up in time for each class, lesson, or educational session.

3. To respond quickly and effectively to queries and request for help from teachers, and support staff.

4. To keep abreast of new developments in ICT, especially those relating to education.

5. To ensure adequate measures are taken or in place to prevent damage and corruption to operational software, applications, and data.

6. To ensure adequate measures are in place and are maintained to ensure compliance with all Safeguarding requirements, including controlling access to unsuitable material etc.

7. To ensure relevant updates and patches are applied to devices, software and server infrastructure, as required.

8. To ensure requests for information and reports are responded to effectively.

9. To maintain adequate stocks of ICT components, spares, and consumables.

10. To resolve problems relating but not limited to Network infrastructure, Servers,

Windows and Mac devices, Printers, Telephone, CCTV, IT hardware, and software.

11. To implement and promote the Trust and Academy’s policies and procedures relating to all areas of employment and service delivery.

12. To undertake any reasonable tasks as directed by the School Business Manager or

Trust IT Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES

1. Maintains and sets up ICT equipment and facilities for classrooms, large group areas and admin areas

2. Supports teachers and students in educational sessions and assists/instructs them in their use of software and hardware where possible.

3. Assist with the identification, and resolution, of any ICT problems faced by teaching and support staff.

4. Oversees the inventory, maintenance and repair of ICT equipment, software, etc. new/changed ICT facilities.

5. Liaises with Trust Central IT team and other third parties where necessary to resolve problems or when planning new /changed ICT facilities

6. Assists with ensuring adequate arrangements exist for the security of data, systems, and hardware.

7. Maintains records and provide information for the Trust IT Manager.

8. Provides instructions, training, and advice on ICT equipment and software to teaching and support staff.

9. Undertakes research on the cost of replacement software and hardware items.

10. Undertake research on emerging education IT trends and recommendations on its implementations.

11. Recommends the best way to resolve ICT problems that occur.

12. Assists with recording all ICT inventory records for hardware, software, e.g. user details serial, product Nos, licences, renewal details, etc.

13. Assists Trust IT Manager with major changes and implementations.

14. Assists with the safe storage and accessibility of every type of hardware and software equipment.

Safeguarding

  • Attend all safeguarding training as directed.
  • Follow Trust procedures and report any concerns to the relevant DSL

Data Protection

Ensure that legislation and Trust policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and data protection are adhered to.

Special Factors

This role may involve some traveling between schools within the Trust (and new ones that may join in the future). The reimbursement of travel costs to schools, other than the location of your normal working location, will be as per the Trust’s travel policy.

The post-holder will support the achievement of the Trust’s objectives by working proactively with colleagues on projects or activities outside their direct area of responsibility, as required.

The post-holder is expected to familiarise themselves with and adhere to all relevant Trust and

Policies and Procedures including Health and Safety and Data Protection requirements and to be aware of and assume the appropriate level of responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and to report any concerns in accordance with the Trust’s safeguarding policies.

As this post meets the requirements in respect of exempted questions under the
