What we do?

Newark Desserts specialise in chilled desserts such as trifles as well as cream cakes, éclairs, doughnuts, profiteroles, and choux buns. We work with and supply to the leading UK grocery retailers and are Number 1 in cream cake and trifle production in the UK.

The site employs over 1,800 people and is one of four factories that are part of the Bakkavor Desserts sector in the UK.

What about the role?

Bakkavor Desserts Newark is recruiting for a number of Night Hygiene Operatives to join our vibrant and expanding Hygiene department at Newark and facilitate the provision of excellent standards of hygiene throughout the factory environment, internally and externally and therein contribute to excellent product quality.
The hygiene team play a vital role in our business ensuring food safety and maintaining a safe working environment.
The typical day of a Hygiene Operative involves working in a small team or on your own following a clear cleaning schedule for our production lines, whether that be a full deep clean with chemicals and taking equipment apart or routine regular cleans. The role will require you to record completion of cleaning activities and ensure due diligence.
What will it take?

• We require all applicants to have a basic understanding of English Literacy and Numeracy (ESOL 2)
• Previous hygiene experience is desirable.
• Be enthusiastic and conscientious
• Understand or be willing to learn the principles and application of Food Safety
• Have a proactive approach to Food Safety
• Be comfortable wearing personal protective equipment and working in a factory environment with cleaning chemicals and in a wet environment
