We are looking for a passionate and highly motivated Human Resources Assistant to join our legal 500 recognised Law firm based in Chesterfield in the ongoing support of our HR Manager, Company and colleagues in the delivery of HR services.
Salary range: £23,000 - £28,000 gross per annum – this role offers an opportunity to work in a supportive and collaborative environment where a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered.
Job type: Full- time - Permanent
Commencement Date: Immediate start, subject to notice period.
Hours of business: Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 5.00 pm (no weekends).
Work location: office based/In person.

Purpose:
The HR function is an essential part of our business and plays a pivotal role in people planning, support and company success. The HR team care about our people and provide a comprehensive, confidential and collaborative service to all stakeholders.
The essential parts of this role are to ensure that the day-to-day administration is accurately performed and maintained, including payroll reporting through our internal HR systems. Being responsible for ensuring that the department is well organised, operates smoothly and ensures all legal obligations are met. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Human Resources Manager, Company and colleagues in a variety of duties such as HR database development/management, recruitment, onboarding, payroll, sickness and benefits administration, special related projects, workload, and the overall provision of an efficient first-class people support service delivery.

The applicant should have a strong work ethic and be a team player who is willing to support others with empathy whilst ensuring high levels of confidentiality.
The successful candidate should be motivated and driven with excellent time management and attention. They will be expected to accurately record/report data in a timely manner and complete Terms and Conditions of Employment and work letters from template documents. Applicants should be able to multi-task and possess a demonstrable pro-active approach to meeting deadlines and should have a general understanding of good employment practice and key current employment legislation in order to support the Company and the wellbeing and health and safety of our people.
Applicants should be highly organised and keen to follow/advocate on policies and procedures to safeguard the Company and stakeholders. Strong technical and analytical skills are essential to this role as there will be a requirement to accurately record and measure data within our HR Systems, including HR metrics, absence stats, staff turnover stats, retention data, appraisal and training reviews and information to be passed to payroll. The Successful candidate will also be responsible for updating, producing, and maintaining meticulous notes and records/staff files in line with Department/Company procedures and legal obligations.
Entry Requirement:
We welcome applications from candidates with 1-3 + years previous experience of working in HR administration or Assistant role, however, we also welcome applications from inexperienced candidates who possess a strong academic background and who are able to show a genuine desire and commitment in developing a career in Human Resources, as training will be provided.
- Candidates should possess a strong academic background. As a minimum, 4 GCSE’s including Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths or equivalent is essential.
- 1-3 + years previous experience of working in HR administration or Assistant role as a minimum is preferred.
- CIPD Level 3/Certificate in People Practice (external training to achieve formal qualification may be considered following probationary period, if not attained) is preferred.
- Technical skills including proficiency with Microsoft office programs including Excel and Outlook is essential.
- The right to work in the UK is essential.
Following training, the successful candidate will be required to:
- Provide full support to the HR Manager and stakeholders.
- Update and manage HR internal databases and systems.
- Manage HR documents and personnel records.
- Dealing with employee sickness and holidays records.
- Assist with data collection of relevant items for monthly payrolling processes.
- Assist with all aspects of recruitment and new starter onboarding process.
- First Aider and Health & Safety representative.
- Answer queries in person, over the telephone and via email.
- Accurate note taker
- Meet legal obligations and perform tasks in line with Company policies and procedures.
- Ensure continuous self-development in relation to good employment practice and key current employment legislation.
- Other HR related administration tasks.
Own transport/valid UK driver licence holder is essential to this post as there will be a requirement to attend meetings throughout our offices based in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and the South Yorkshire areas.
