We are looking to recruit a HR Advisor to support Academies with all aspects of HR. You and the HR team will work, closely to deliver an approachable, efficient and effective HR service to all of our Academies.

- Current competence and HR expertise
- A strong understanding of HR procedures and the ability to demonstrate this on a practical level
- An understanding of current HR legislation
- Outstanding communication skills; both in speech and in writing.
- The ability to support all Principals and managers throughout the employment cycle

Purpose of the post
Working as part of the central Trust team, to deliver Human Resources activities to our academies across a range of duties which will include but will not be limited to recruitment, absence management, policies and procedures, new starters, leavers, payroll and general HR support.
Key Areas
- Provide advice, support, guidance and direction to achieve a successful resolution of complex cases in line with the Trust's procedures and legislative requirements e.g. employee complaints, disciplinary, redeployment, welfare and restructures.
- Exercise considerable initiative and professional judgement in the development and implementation of employment policies and practices, ensuring that they reflect best practice, legislative requirements and promote diversity, equality and inclusion.
- Advise and support managers on the entire recruitment lifecycle, including developing appropriate recruitment plans which are legally compliant, ensure best practice and reflects Equality, Diversity and Inclusion considerations.
- Interpret and advise management and employees on pay and conditions matters
e.g. pay, managed severance, redundancy, redeployment, grading requests etc.
- Provide advice and guidance on the interpretation and application of the Trust's policies and procedures, and terms and conditions of service, ensuring a fair and consistent approach.
- Provide one-to-one coaching / advisory support to managers in relation to disciplinary, grievance, sickness absence management, performance, capability and other employee relations matters, including attendance at meetings as required.
- Train and coach managers to manage performance on an ongoing basis and to have honest and straight-forward conversations.
- Monitor academy / Trust attendance figures and trigger points to determine appropriate actions in relation to individual cases; to liaise with managers to support follow up action in relation to attendance management.
- Ensure the accurate reporting and escalation of any significant issues or risks to the Trust.
- Develop and maintain effective and professional working relationships with recognised Trade Union Officials within the Trust, as part of effective management of individual cases, and when invited the JCNC.
- Contribute, as requested, to continuous review and improvement activities to ensure that HR processes and policies are fit for purpose and to continue to work efficiently.
- Provide regular staffing data to Trust managers, interpreting and identifying trends and developing associated action plans. Provide data to support Trust KPIs.
- Ensure the use of data complies with current regulations, particularly those relating to GDPR. Attend meetings / training and carry out administrative tasks and duties as specified on the Trust calendar.
- Consistently implement all Trust policies; contribute to decision-making and consultation procedures.
- Report any safeguarding concerns immediately to a Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- To maintain and update all HR/workforce databases as required ensuring accuracy of staff data.
- Assist the Principals and Senior Leadership teams in safer recruitment, placing adverts, preparing and circulating information to applicants, issuing of reference requests and supporting with the facilitation of assessment days.
- To ensure completion of appropriate employment and vetting checks and maintenance of the Single Central Register to ensure compliance with current ISI regulations and Keeping Children Safe in Education.
- To ensure the organisation of mandatory training, including reminders to staff and providing regular updates to the Principal on completion rates.
- Prepare and issue contracts of employment and other documentation relevant to recruitment.
- To assist Principals and Senior Leader teams in compiling job descriptions, person specifications and recruitment adverts. Supporting the Senior Leadership teams and employees through departmental and organisational changes in order to meet organisational objectives.
- Responsible for the administration and management of Performance Management Systems including the coordination of the performance management process as required by the Principals.
- Plan and deliver HR induction sessions to new staff, working with the Designated Safeguarding Leads and Principals to ensure all safeguarding requirements are met.
- Coordinate all new joiners probationary period monitoring, ensuring managers are aware of their duties and relevant paperwork is complete.
- To undertake the annual work force census.
- To carry out audits of contractors’ records to ensure their compliance with required vetting checks of their employees (working on site at the School).
- To support the Senior Leadership teams with the Absence Management system by ensuring accurate absence monitoring on a regular basis.
- Ensure annual HR processes are completed on time and effectively, including the annual revision of the staff handbook.
- Ensure procedures for processing payroll are up to date.
Other Duties.
- To take minutes/action points at meetings as required.
- To undertake any other appropriate duties as commensurate with this role
General
- To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined by the postholder's manager
- To undertake duties as part of the team rota.
- To act as a team member and undertake general office duties as and when required to support the overall service delivery to the academies, students and families.
- Uphold the professional standards expected of every member of Trust staff in all dealings with colleagues, students, parents / carers and the wider community.
- Adhere to the principles expressed in the aims of the Trust.
- Actively contribute to the continued development of the Trust by attending training, participating in relevant meetings, and putting forward ideas for improvement.

- The postholder's duties must at all times be carried out in compliance with the academies Equal Opportunities Policy and other policies designed to protect employees or service users from harassment.
- Take reasonable care of the health and safety of self, other persons and resources whilst at work.
- Co-operate with management of the trust as far as is necessary to enable the responsibilities placed upon the trust under the Health and Safety at Work Act to be performed, eg operate safe working practices including both mental and physical wellbeing.
- It is the duty of the postholder not to act in a prejudicial or discriminatory manner towards employees. The postholder should also counteract such practice or behaviour by challenging or reporting it.

Safeguarding is about keeping people safe and protecting people from harm, neglect, abuse and injury. It is about creating safe places, being vigilant and doing something about any concerns you might have.
