H S & E Advisor - 12 Months Fixed Term

An opportunity has arisen for a HS&E Advisor to join the team at Morrison Construction, Galliford Try.

Our Environment Business provides ‘source to sea’ asset delivery capability across the UK and Scotland working on both Frameworks and Standalone projects. Since AMP3 we have delivered more than £2bn assets for clients such as Yorkshire Water, United Utilities, Anglian Water, Thames Water, Southern Water, Welsh Water and Scottish Water. Ideally, you will based in or around the Central Scotland area and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects in the Region.

What you will be doing:

You will support the Scottish Water Framework and Joint Venture. Reporting to the Regional HS&E Manager (Scotland) by developing and implementing Environmental strategy and systems to ensure that the delivery of our operations meets exemplary environmental standards. This role is responsible for improvement and consistency in performance, ensuring compliance with management systems, and implementing continual improvement initiatives.

  • Setting vision, objectives, targets and direction for environmental management on the frameworks.
  • Developing and implementing the Environmental Strategy, Training and Resources Strategy.
  • Working collaboratively with the Regional HS&E Manager and Discipline Leads to develop the annual HS&E Plan, set relevant HS&E performance and compliance objectives, targets and actions.
  • Working collaboratively with the Regional HS&E Manager and Discipline Leads to review business management systems and identify and implement opportunities for improvement.
  • Working collaboratively with the H&S Operations Lead in the delivery and implementation of the SHE Call, SHE Forums (Design, Delivery and Supply Chain) and relevant working groups.
  • Working collaboratively with Parent Company Environmental Leads to identify risk, threats and improvements and implement solutions on the frameworks as appropriate.
  • Working collaboratively with Scottish Water SSD Client to identify efficiencies, increase collaboration opportunities and reduce duplication.
  • Working collaboratively with SW Net Zero Emissions team to implement ESD Carbon Strategy, identifying, developing and implementing carbon reduction solutions.
  • Ensuring all works are undertaken in accordance with the legal, client and EMS requirements.
  • Developing and implementing assurance programmes to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Developing and implementing training programmes to ensure environmental competencies are met.
  • Managing, coaching and supporting members of the environmental team.
  • Reviewing and signing off all incident investigations and providing technical support to the environmental team members, site and management teams including taking the lead on SHE calls.
  • Providing technical support to the environmental advisors for environmental licence applications.

About You:

ESSENTIAL

  • Proven track record of environmental compliance and maintaining high standards.
  • Degree level qualification in appropriate environmental discipline.
  • Membership of appropriate professional body e.g.; IEMA, CIWEM or IES
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel across projects / contracts in region.

DESIRABLE

  • First Aid Training (preferred)
