The Emory National Primate Research Center at Emory University is currently seeking 2 full-time Human Resources Specialists to join the EPC HR team that will be comprised of four members. The new team members will assist in providing human resource functions to various units in support of the success of nearly 700 employees including students, faculty, staff, and collaborators.

EMORY UNIVERSITY JOB DESCRIPTION:
Educates and assists management and employees within a particular division or department in the administration of human resources policies and procedures. Interprets policies and works with appropriate staff to effectively resolve human resources issues. Provides guidance to managers and supervisors regarding employee leave policies. May investigate and gather information regarding employee relations, Workers' Compensation and FMLA situations. Initiates employment requisitions and follows up on job postings and applicant referrals. Processes new hire and applicant tracking paperwork. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of employment documents. Reviews and obtains approval of time and attendance documents, processes reimbursements and special checks and maintains required documentation. Maintains databases, records and files and prepares reports. May assist with budget preparation and monitor expenditures for specific areas. Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years of college coursework and three years of office administration experience which includes two years of human resources experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Knowledge of various personal computer software packages.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES FOR EMORY PRIMATE CENTER:
- Greets visitors and answers their questions or refers the same to the appropriate HR/department representative.
- Provides information and answers routine inquiries concerning Human Resources and organizational policies and procedures.
- Provides administrative support for human resources activities, such as reclassifications, leaves of absence, new hire onboarding, separations/off-boarding, among other duties, and works with appropriate staff to effectively resolve human resources issues.
- Provides guidance to managers and supervisors regarding employee leave policies and works with appropriate Central HR partners to manage and resolve all leave requests appropriately and satisfactorily.
- Initiates employment requisitions and follows up on job postings and applicant referrals.
- Processes new hires (student, staff, and faculty) and applicant tracking paperwork using iCIMS, PeopleSoft (PSHR), and Equifax for E-Verify.
- Coordinate and track training for all appropriate EPC employees, as required.
- Ensures the accuracy and completeness of employment documents.
- Processes reimbursements and accounts payable checks and maintains required documentation.
- Maintains databases, records, and files and prepares reports.
- Creates and maintains electronic Newsletters and other communication platforms.
- Orders and maintains office supplies and forms, checks inventories, and ensures accurate orders are received.
- Coordinates and schedules meetings, appointments, and special events including catering for various events.
- Attends and assists with Job Fairs in partnership with Emory University Recruiting.
- May assist with budget preparation and monitor expenditures for the EPC HR office
- Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
- Evidence of excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Evidence of excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Evidence of excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Demonstrated knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office and Office 365 applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Sway, Box, Forms, etc.), OneDrive, Adobe, and Emory software systems.
- Experience with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems (iCIMS, PeopleSoft, ETAS, and database query software such as EBI).
- Demonstrated knowledge of human resources best practices and/or Emory human resources systems, procedures, and policies.
- Experience in higher education administrative operations preferred, but not required.
- Experience in coordinating activities and establishing priorities.
- Experience working with confidential and sensitive information.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting.
- Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
- Clearly and effectively communicate to perform essential functions.
- Use a calculator, telephone, computer (monitor, keyboard, and mouse), printer, fax, and copy/scanning machine.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENING STATEMENT:
Emory NPRC in conjunction with Emory University conducts pre-employment screening for all positions which may include education verification, reference check, criminal and other background check, sex offender registry check, health assessment, and possible drug screen. This also may include the validation of either COVID-19 vaccination records or an approved Emory exemption if your position is in a clinical setting. Emory NPRC/EPC processing for hands-on work clearance instructions will then follow and will include a general health assessment and mandatory tuberculosis (TB) testing.
NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department of work. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
