HR / People Operations Manager | Office, Hybrid, Remote

We are seeking an HR generalist to be our first full time, dedicated HR Manager. The role will support the management team on all people and culture related strategy and be responsible for people operations including recruitment, onboarding, performance, pay, benefits and administration.

Evalian specialise in data protection compliance, GDPR, information security, penetration testing and ISO certification consultancy. Founded in 2018 we have grown to more than 50 people, working from our offices and from home locations.

We have established a solid HR framework of policies, processes and supporting tools including an HRMS and ATS for HR and recruitment management respectively. We now wish to build on these foundations and establish a strategic approach to people operations and HR admin, including talent acquisition and retention.

The Role

Reporting to the business founder / Managing Director, your responsibilities will include:

Recruitment

  • Creating/updating job specifications
  • Advertising via job boards
  • Qualifying candidates
  • Supporting line managers through the interview and decision-making process
  • Candidate communications

New Starters

  • Contract/paperwork management
  • New starter checks, references and admin
  • Induction training and support
  • Probation monitoring and line manager support

Performance & Development

  • Supporting and overseeing performance and development activities
  • Advising and supporting line managers with performance issues

Pay and Benefits

  • Liaising with finance manager and payroll providers on payroll admin
  • Managing pay review process
  • Benefits administration via benefits providers

HR Administration

  • Maintenance and management of HRMS and supporting HR records
  • Maintaining, improving staff handbook, HR policies, procesures
  • Absence management and record keeping
  • Monitoring adherence to HR policies
  • Supporting ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 maintenance activities

The Person

You'll have at least 3 years of HR administration experience, potentially at adviser or business partner level, a good understanding of what 'good' HR and culture should look like and good working knowledge of UK employment law.

The ideal candidate will be ambitious to create a strong HR culture in a growing business and be comfortable working on the positive and more challenging aspects of human resources Strong administrative skills, an excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills are highly important.

You must be comfortable being the face of HR within our business and be capable of representing our policies, cultural and performance standards. An ability to influence and support line managers and directors is a necessity.

The Package

The salary will depend on your experience and will be in the range of £50,000-£55,000. A higher salary may be available for candidates with directly relevant experience.

Candidates with higher salary requirements are welcome to apply if they exceed the person profile but should include a covering letter setting out their salary expectations.

All employees receive 22 days of annual leave and their birthday off in addition to the 8 statutory bank holidays and have the option to receive pension contributions within our scheme.

Location & Minimum Requirements

The role can be office based (Winchester or Worcester), home based or hybrid.

With this in mind, we are happy to receive applications from candidates in any part of the UK provided you can work effectively from home and are comfortable with travelling to the Winchester and Worcester offices and other locations for employee meetups at agreed intervals.

If you are home based, you'll need to have a dedicated, secure, working area and reliable internet connection. We may request that you attend our offices or events from time to time for various purposes, but we’ll always provide you with advance notice. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
