We are looking for an experienced HR Officer to work with the HR Manager to provide a seamless and professional service to the Rugby Plant management team and colleagues. The successful applicant will have experience of working in a similar role in a similar environment.

Role overview:
This is a brand-new role at the Rugby plant which is a fully generalist, hands on, role whereby you will be responsible for all aspects of the employee life cycle. Ideally you will enjoy administration as much as you enjoy supporting in all people activities. With a proactive, can-do approach, you will embrace the variety this role offers. Key responsibilities:
Culture and Values

Fostering and supporting a culture which promotes effective employee performance and engagement.

Managing and running employee feedback projects and benchmarking activities as a mechanism to exchange employee engagement and business performance across the location, encouraging managers and staff to participate, identify and commit to improvement actions.

Employee Relations

Ensuring that all managers have appropriately detailed understanding of the full range of employee relations policies, practices and employment law in order to manage risk.
Supporting, maintaining and developing key HR policies and adheres to legislation, support to the business and employee relations.
Supporting the HR Manager in key negotiations and fosters constructive working relationship with the local trade unions, employee forums etc.
Supporting the HR Manager to manage the process and all involved parties in investigations and resolving such situations as grievances and disciplinaries, in accordance with company policy.
Acting as an internal consultant for managers, supporting and guiding managers towards appropriate actions and conclusions on all employee relations issues keeping appropriate records.
Developing strong relationships with occupational health and develops well-being policies.

Learning & Development

Working with line managers and the Plant Technical Trainer to conduct a local, detailed training and learning needs analysis for the short, medium, and long term and evaluates its effectiveness.
Driving and developing the Apprenticeship programme with the local Technical Trainer and HR Manager.
Working with managers to develop specific local learning interventions to close key gaps that align with succession plans.
Managing third-party learning and development suppliers against agreed standards, contracts or service-level agreements.
Supporting the HR Manager to facilitate internal learning events and workshops, delivering content as appropriate.
Keeping abreast of UK legislative changes.

Performance and Reward - in Conjunction with HR Manager

Leading external benchmarking exercises, e.g. salary surveys, best practice, working conditions as appropriate for overall reward and employee engagement - become a member of local HR forums.
Coaching managers to communicate clearly to employees on performance and reward matters.
Working with managers to resolve individual performance/capability issues using appropriate tools, eg performance improvement plans. Supports the manager in taking swift action as appropriate.
Managing and maintaining a remuneration package and structure which is competitive within the geographical area, affordable, promotes performance and retains the talents within our business.
Ownership of payroll ensuring compliance with SOX regulations.

Resourcing and Talent Management - in conjunction with HR Manager

Managing all local recruitment needs in line with Ardagh Group policy, diversity and equality legislation including management recruitment.
Reviewing manpower planning against optimum to inform an annual plan of action and determines short-, medium- and long-term strengths, gaps and needs.
Leading and co-ordinating regular local succession plan reviews ensuring information from other critical from other critical processes, such as performance reviews, competency gap analysis, 360-degree feedback etc. is considered.
Identifying sources of required talent locally, developing relationships with key universities, colleges, schools and communities as appropriate. Projects a positive image of our plant/operation within the local community.
Managing organization redundancy programs in line with organization need and employment law.
Working in partnership with managers to ensure that new starters and those transitioning to new positions in the organization are supported in the first 30–90 days and undergo an appropriate induction.

HR Administration

Managing the key HR metrics.
Managing all aspects of HR Administration to provide accurate secure, current employee data which is regularly open to audit.

Customer Service and Information

Making a full contribution as a member of the HR Team to the effective running of our operation both as a functional specialist and generalist.
Managing significant change programs locally in support of major service model restructuring, eg outsourcing, insourcing, HRMS changes.
Identifying and acting on any legislative changes that may impact on service delivery.

Requirements:
CIPD qualified or part qualified and working towards full qualification, preferably degree educated
Fluency in English - written and verbal, with high-developed communication skills
Good working knowledge of MS Office and any HR related systems
Minimum of 5 years' HR experience in a unionized environment
Demonstrate knowledge and experience of detailing with ER issues
Knowledge and experience of recruitment practices
Highly organized and motivated to get the job done
Team player, supportive and goal orientated
Ability to use own initiative to achieve results, proactive and can-do attitude
Affinity to improve processes
Experience of training policies/procedures to workforce
