ROLE PURPOSE
To be the Company’s first HR professional managing and implementing the company HR requirements at both an operational and strategic level, advocating for best practice that ensures employee retention and engagement, and supports the Director to achieve the Company’s growth strategy and business objectives.
SALARY, WORKING HOURS & LOCATION
£35-£50k p.a., pro-rata (subject to experience)
3-4 days per week minimum with full time potential. There is flexibility about the specific working hours and working days, including the potential for term-time only arrangements, subject to agreement. You will be based either in our Warrington or Hackthorpe (near Penrith, Cumbria) office with the ability to occasionally visit the other office, and some home-based working is possible.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Company Strategy:
· Work with the SLT to define the Company’s people strategy and vision.
· Develop an annual plan for approval with each operational company that ensures the company delivers on its people strategy and vision.
· Lead the annual cycle of people activity including pay and bonus reviews, performance calibration, talent initiatives, training needs analysis and employee surveys.
· Develop and implement the company Corporate Social Responsibility procedure and annual plan.
HR Operations:
· Ensure the company HR processes, policies, contracts of employment and standard operating procedures are developed and maintained.
· Manage GDPR legislative requirements in relation to people data.
· Advise SLT in all HR related queries and best practice.
· Maintain adequate and suitable records using the Atlas HR Management System.
· Regularly report on progress against the annual plan to Directors.
· Provide relevant data and information to our external payroll provider.
Recruitment & Onboarding:
· Take the lead on all recruitment activities (with support from operational companies) from start to finish, including search, outreach, advertising, screening, selection and contract offer.
· Manage relationships with external recruitment consultants and advertising providers including associated terms as preferred suppliers.
· Develop and maintain relationships with educational establishments to assist in the recruitment and development of staff on undergraduate industry placements, apprenticeships, degree apprenticeships, post graduate opportunities etc.
· Take the lead with onboarding and company orientation activities to ensure new people settle into their role as quickly as possible.
Rewards:
· Work closely with directors on reward and benefits policies and make sure we are closely in touch with the market to ensure talent acquisition and retention.
Culture and values:
· Lead on the submission of Employer awards and investment in people certification opportunities.
· Lead on the completion of annual people surveys and summarise findings and recommendations to SLT.
· Monitor people’s wellbeing and lead on initiatives that will bring improvement to wellbeing and engagement.
· Lead on the implementation of activities that will help embed company values.
People Development:
· Work with Directors to establish a training needs and gap analysis assessment.
· Plan learning objectives and commission development training in accordance with people’s development plans and set annual budgets with Directors.
· Monitor and evaluate the success of training implementation and provide feedback to Directors.
· Ensure training records are maintained by the operational companies using Atlas.
· Establish and implement mentoring plans and support operational leads in their skills to deliver mentoring.
· Lead on talent identification and succession planning activities ensuring that appropriate action is identified and actioned as necessary.
· Work with the leadership team to ensure a consistent approach is taken across the business for succession planning, training and leadership team development.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Knowledge, experience and qualifications:
· Proven HR generalist experience at both strategic and operational levels.
· Ideally a Chartered Member of CIPD and/or L5 HR qualification.
· Comfortable utilising Microsoft Office and people database tools.
· Experience of developing and implementing strategies and plans and achieving successful outcomes to drive a people strategy forward.
