Cargiant are looking for an experienced HR Manager to lead our HR function and support the directors to achieve a range of strategic objectives relating to the people and workforce development. To manage the day to day operations of the HR team, Recruitment and Payroll team ensuring all teams operate a quality service to all and at all times. This is a hands on position where not only will you be stategic you will also be very opertational in your approach.

Duties to include
- Provide advice and guidance to the management team in dealing with all people related matters, including disciplinary, grievances, absence management and redundancy/ restructures etc.
- Coach and support managers through their people related issues, ensuring advice is in line with Company policy and current legislation
- Line management of 3 direct reports
- Ensuring the effective management of ER cases to mitigate any risk of litigation against the business
- Manage relationships with externally appointed specialist advisors (e.g. Pension, Employment etc), ensuring a cost effective service is provided, negotiating renewals when necessary
- Manage the administration of all benefits
- Continuously identify HR process improvements and lead on the effective delivery of such projects
- Implement programmes to attract and retain employees and improve the employee experience within the workplace
- Support the MD in setting and reviewing pay structures on annual basis.
- Ensure the Company complies with any legal reporting requirements (e.g. Gender Pay, Modern Slavery etc)
- Design, review and update all policies and procedures to reflect changes to current legislation and/or the company processes
- To compile monthly HR metrics including staff turnover, retention etc. and create and implement action plans and recommend changes for improvement
- Work with the Training team to develop employees and management capabilities
- Oversee the effective management off all processes relating to employee requests, e.g. flexible working, maternity, paternity etc ensuring relevant documentation is accurately completed
- Oversee the effective management of all processes during the employee lifecycle, ensuring that all relevant documentation is completed accurately.
- Ensure regular audit of Visas, driving licences and credit checks as necessary
- Ensure regular audits of digital and paper-based employee files are conducted to ensure content is legally compliant
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Experienced HR Manager with generalist experience
- Payroll Experience, ideally Sage 50.
- CIPD qualified (minimum CIPD level 5)
- Thrives in fast paced environment and happy to deal with operational tasks
- Able to build and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders
- Confident in conflict resolution, disciplinary processes, and overall ER Management
- Excellent knowledge of UK Employment Law
- Ability to work under pressure and with competing priorities
- Confident communicator and comfortable challenging decisions when necessary
- Excellent computer skills incl. Microsoft Word and Excel.
