HR Manager

We have a great opportunity for a HR Manager to join a small and friendly team of 3 in our office in the beautiful Peak District National Park. Reporting to the Managing Director, this is a new position within the company so it's a chance to really make the role your own! The role will include a wide range of responsibilities and would suit someone who is very well organised, confident and with a hands-on attitude, who can manage a busy HR team that consists of an HR Officer, a Payroll Technician/HR Administrator and a Receptionist.
The role is to develop and deliver people management strategies which support the company’s overall strategic aims and objectives. To provide expert professional advice and support to managers and staff on all aspects of people management, conform to current employment legislation and offer HR best practice.
Primary responsibilties:

  • Support our managers and employees with all HR related queries.
  • To review, monitor and further improve our HR practice and procedures also in cooperation with our group headquarters, e.g., digitalisation of employee files, performance appraisals and tools etc.
  • To work closely with managers, providing them with expert guidance, coaching and support on the full range of HR activities (including recruiting, policies and procedures, terms and conditions of employment, absence management performance management and disciplinary and grievance matters).
  • To actively support the whole recruitment process of new staff.
  • To keep up to date with legal developments and advise Directors on compliance and risk factors to assist in protecting the company from employment litigation.
  • Manage the administration of various HR procedures including but not limited to; starters and leavers, induction plans, sickness, absence, maternity, flexible working, apprenticeship schemes, annual leave, other types of leave and training.
  • Liaise as appropriate with external agencies including recruitment agencies, trainers and suppliers of other HR products and services.
  • Responsible for the effective operation of the payroll process.
  • The role will require occasional support/travel to other divisions.

Key skills and qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will have at least 5 years’ previous experience as an HR Manager.
  • Degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate subject.
  • CIPD level 5 minimum in HR Management.
  • Excellent communicator and highly motivated.
  • Demonstrates sound decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to adopt effective influencing styles.
  • Delivers on time and to target.
  • Proficient with the MS Office package and an affinity for software systems. Ideally, you will already be experienced with an ATS or personnel management system.
