Human Resources Generalist


Areas of Responsibility:

  • Familiarity with both federal and state labor laws and regulations. Implements procedures to ensure full compliance with both as needed.
  • Assist with performance management related functions, including monitoring of performance review system and working with managers as needed.
  • Maintains and updates job descriptions as applicable.
  • Prepares census reports.
  • Helps provide guidance and direction to employees and helps to maintain the integrity of the company and culture.
  • Establish and maintain employee files.
  • Assist with layoff and termination administration as needed.
  • Assist in employee training and development on an as needed basis.
  • Conduct benefit orientation meetings with all eligible staff.
  • Assist with annual benefit open enrollment and corresponding meetings (both on site and via web).
  • Reply to employee questions on benefit plan details.
  • Assist with new hire enrolment and provide benefit statements.
  • Create offer letters of employment.
  • Administer complete employee orientation for all new hires.
  • Liaise with facilities/IT to ensure proper equipment, login, password, and software information is available to employees and communicate needs with managers.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Must have minimum of 5 years’ experience in Human Resources.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently and under supervision.
  • Proven track record of building strong working relationships with employees while fostering a cooperative work environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and functions to design solutions to resolve problems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software (high-level Excel skills preferred).
  • ADP experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of employee benefits includes group health and life insurance plans, flexible spending, dependent care programs (FSA), 401(k) plan, and COBRA.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift and/or move objects. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger and grasp, using repetitive motions; talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stoop. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand, walk, push, pull, lift and feel. This job requires the employee to have close visual acuity.
