The Role – Human Resources Lead

As the Human Resources Lead and the sole member of the internal Human Resource department, you will manage and oversee all HR functions within the hotel. From recruitment and retention to absences management and appraisals, the Human Resources Lead will play a vital role in every employees journey within the business.

This is an exciting and unique role supporting the delivery the highest level of service throughout all departments of the business. The role demands that the candidate is highly resourceful and organised. Effective versatile communication will be a critical element of this role; you will be handling personal information and therefore an understanding of GDPR and confidentiality is critical.

Whilst reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be supported in aspects of your role, where needed, by Neo People Management our external HR partners.

Whilst all of the above is mandatory we are also looking for a candidate who can join our fun family. You must be able to build a rapport with your colleagues and the ultimate goal is to enjoy your job.

Candidate Criteria

Whilst at one level this is a traditional business, it is also progressive, and candidates should be able to demonstrate a much more contemporary outlook on life and an ability to adapt to a fast-moving, busy operation.

Due to the nature of the business no two days are the same and the ability to multitask and adjust to changing priorities is required. You should be able to demonstrate prioritisation and a meticulous attention to detail should be evident.

Essential Requirements and skills

  • Proven experience of working in a HR role in an organisation of a similar size.
  • Hospitality HR experience is helpful but not essential.
  • Excellent use of verbal and written English.
  • Able to communicate clearly with both managers and colleagues alike.
  • Numerically literate, comfortable working with numbers.
  • IT literate – Office 365, proficient in Excel, word and Outlook.
  • A good understanding of GDPR is required.
  • The ability to exercise discretion is essential.
  • A CIPD qualification would be advantageous but not essential.
  • A willingness to learn and develop.
  • Highly organised, methodical with excellent attention to detail.

The working hours for this role can range between 24 and 40 hours depending on the candidates preference.

Salary for this position starts at £28,000; however is negotiable depending on experience, these figures will be pro rata if the post is occupied part time.

This position is based from the Hotel and home working is not available, please consider the commute prior to making an application.

The Nare Hotel, positioned as ‘the country house hotel by the sea’, is Cornwall's top luxury hotel. Sitting in its own grounds, overlooking a beach with perfect sea views, the hotel offers traditional standards of comfort, luxury, and service that are increasingly difficult to find in the modern world. Rated by the AA as an 5-hotel. The hotel is set in some 8 acres, has 45 well-appointed rooms, a traditional ‘Dining Room’ and a fine dining restaurant. In addition, the hotel offers a broad range of leisure facilities including tennis, croquet, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a small spa with two treatment rooms and a 38’ motor launch which takes guests on excursions.

The Nare has now also entered a phase of significant growth with the development of further accommodation and improvements.
