Salary Range: $61,500 - $85,950
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Director of HR & Academic Affairs and supervised by the Manager of HR Operations, the Human Resources and Faculty Affairs (HR/FA) Generalist will support a variety of HR duties. The HR/FA Generalist with have primary administrative responsibility for provider credentialing, faculty and staff onboarding and operational transactions.
Responsibilities
Coordinate the start-to-end onboarding process for all VP&S Officers of Instruction, Officers of Research, Officers of Administration, SSA, NUSS, Casuals and Service Corporation staff, ensuring a great experience for new hires and a smooth start into their roles.
Create job postings in Academic Search & Recruit (ASR), TalentLink and Clear Company.
Create job advertisements as instructed.
Work closely with HR Manager, hiring managers and/or search committee members to identify finalist, extend the offer, and upon acceptance, initiate the onboarding process.
Coordinate with Central HR to initiate background checks, coordinate medical clearances, and upon Central HR clearance, will coordinate all onboarding tasks and procedures.
Facilitate onboarding tasks to ensure new employees are integrated in to the payroll system and work environment such as completion of I9 verifications, collect tax forms, share benefit information for enrollment, direct deposit, coordinate start date/location, contacts and other onboarding tasks.
Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate Surgery HR Management.
Update the internal Departmental HR ticketing system (JIRA) to ensure the highest levels of customer service and that the transactions are moving in an expedient matter.
Works in conjunction with providers (MD, NP, PA) and NYP Medical Staff Office (MSO) to complete the initial credentialing and annual re-credentialing applications.
Prepares Chairman’s support letters, board waiver memos and DEA waiver memos.
Reviews delineation of privileges for accurate selections and appropriate MCIC categories for AD and Chair’s approval.
Provides individualized licensure and credentialing instructions, in addition to support and problem-solving throughout process.
Monitors semi-annual OPPE submissions for CU NPs and PAs.
Distributes monthly credentialing expirable reminders to the Divisions.
Coordinate and monitors Annual Compliance requirements- Health Review, Flu Shot, Hospital & Fire Safety, Conflict of interest, HIPAA, Billing Compliance, Title IX, etc.
Completes verifications of appointment.
Draft memos and letters to faculty and staff as directed.
Responsible for effectively communicating statuses, process and policy updates with faculty, staff, and administrators,
Maintains knowledge of HR policies, licensure, credentialing, hospital and university polices and processes.
Perform routine data entry.
Maintain faculty and staff database (GRM) and generate reports as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience and 3 years related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
SHRM-CP and/or SHRM-SCP preferred

MS Office skills
Knowledge and understanding of the credentialing process.
Ability to organize and prioritize work and manage multiple priorities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including, letters, memos and emails.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to research and analyze data.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, management, staff, and contacts outside the organization.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access) and internet resources.
Must be able to communicate clearly to providers and team members in person and over the telephone.
