HR/Employment Adviser
The British Medical Association (BMA) is the trade union and professional body for doctors in the UK. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time HR/Employment Adviser to join the Employer Advisory Services team on a 12 month fixed term contract. The team provide HR/employment law advice and support to our members who employ staff.
About the role
The successful candidate will provide HR/employment law advice to our members who are employers providing guidance on partnership agreements. You will offer telephone and email advice to a range of GP practices and Primary Care Networks.
If you have previous and demonstrable experience in advising employers on the management of complex HR/employment law cases and would like to join a hard working and supportive team, we'd love to hear from you.
All Employment Advisers are home-based and all IT equipment will be provided. While the location is flexible, and travel is not extensive, we require the successful applicant to be able to attend meetings on a regular and ad-hoc basis at various locations.
To be successful as an Employment Adviser you'll have:
- An excellent knowledge of HR practices and an up to date knowledge of employment law
- Experience working within a HR Advisory, Employee Relations or Shared Services team
- CIPD or relevant qualification (desirable)
- Proven experience of managing high volume complex HR cases
- Demonstrable experience of advising employers on HR/employment issues
- Knowledge and understanding about partnership issues
- The ability to manage a high volume of complex cases
- Excellent IT skills (Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Outlook)
- Strong relationship building skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of the NHS structure and major NHS issues would be an advantage.
- A team player who can work well autonomously and as part of a team
In addition, the successful applicant must be able to work effectively from home.
