Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Office of Human Resources provides comprehensive human resources programs and services that enable the Adams School of Dentistry to achieve its mission.
Position Summary
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Office of Human Resources is searching for two Human Resources Consultants.
The Human Resources Consultant will serve as the primary contact for recruitment, classification and compensation, employee relations, and faculty affairs activities for their respective units. The HR Consultant must possess expertise in managing human resources activities in a high-volume environment, and is expected to provide in-depth interpretation of University policies and advice on HR issues and concerns. This position will implement new and existing processes and procedures, strategize and appropriately plan within assigned units to understand missions, and deliver services to help units accomplish their goals and objectives. This position will be a complex user of our HRIM (ConnectCarolina) and will need to prepare, approve, and/or troubleshoot proposed or implemented HR actions to assure compliance with relevant Federal, State, and University policies and the institution’s equal opportunity and diversity goals.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and two years of progressively responsible professional human resources management experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Successful applicants will demonstrate a positive, highly professional and customer oriented focus in the workplace. Ability to address complex personnel issues, which requires extreme sensitivity, and have an in-depth understanding of workplace culture. The position requires a high level of organization, discretion, and an ability to adapt easily, follow through, complete tasks and resolve issues. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills are required. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint are required.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Prior HR experience in the UNC System. Experience managing employee relations cases, recruitment, and classification and compensation, either as a human resources professional or as a supervisor.

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
