DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES | About the role

Our Management Accounts team are looking for a Trainee Accountant, to assist with the internal accounting reconciliations and reporting requirements for our UK&I entities. Working with the team you will develop a variety of accounting skills and be exposed to a broad range of activities.

This is a great opportunity for candidates looking to develop a career in Finance and Accounts, we offer ongoing training and development including AAT, CIMA or ACCA qualifications.

Working as a Trainee Accountant you will have exposure to:

  • The preparation and upload of Trial Balance into OneStream.
  • Bank reconciliation and reconciliation of OneStream flows and appendixes.
  • Inter-Company Trial Balance and Reconciliation with global entities
  • Preparation & completion of local Management Account reporting templates
  • Monthly reconciliation of gross margin per group sales reporting
  • Calculation of gross margin and reconciliation between profitability reports and accounting records.
  • Calculating deferral and release of revenue and costs on support contract
  • Calculation and supporting evidence of monthly IFRS15 revenue cut-off journals.
  • Reviewing the IFRS15 Principal vs Agent reports and posting of journals.
  • Completion of the IFRS16 Lease software and posting onto reporting of IFRS16 Journals.
  • Calculation of customer rebate accruals
  • Calculation of Commissions data
  • Controlling the fixed asset and demo stock register including depreciation journals
  • Calculating and posting stock provisions.
  • Review of Stock Adjustments impacting Cost of Sales.
  • Calculating and posting monthly accruals and prepayments
  • Produce and calculate reconciliation of expenses.
  • Maintaining GRNI and IRNC sheets
  • Preparation, reconciliation and submission of VAT returns, EC sales list and Intrastat declaration
  • Assisting with the production of the annual budget for submission.
  • Provide information and supporting evidence required for Year End & Interim Audits
  • Generation of companies house and HMRC reports

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE | About you

The ideal Trainee Accountant will:

  • Be AAT, Degree qualified or have experience within accounts
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills are a must.
  • Be a Self-starter with the capability of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Have excellent attention to detail and ability to self-review work
  • Be process driven and be keen to identify and develop potential improvements.
  • Have a flexible and proactive approach with the ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to present documents in a clear, cohesive manner.
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be supportive and deadline driven
  • Be keen to learn and progress
