HR Assistant

HR and Recruitment Team

Waterfront office, Brierley Hill (ad hoc travel required to all Talbots offices)

Full Time, Permanent position.

We are looking for an experienced HR generalist to join Talbots as an HR Assistant. To be successful, you will have a minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in HR, and a passion to support and develop colleagues across their whole career, by providing excellent internal client service.

As an HR Assistant, you will be expected to work alongside and support the wider HR and Recruitment team with the entire employee lifecycle from recruitment onwards. You will work as part of a team of 7, to assist the HR Director and HR Manager to ensure swift advice and guidance to over 400 employees on all HR related matters.

What the job involves:

  • Responsible for first-line HR response, to both internal and external enquiries and requests.
  • Assisting with Sickness & Absence processes such as responding, notifying managers and monitoring.
  • Communicating all job change notifications; new starters, leavers, and promotions, plus processing and acknowledging resignations and retirements.
  • Processing Flexible Working Requests.
  • Obtaining references, DBS checks and Right to Live and Work documentation for new starters as well as providing references for previous employees.
  • General administration and maintenance of all HR communications, documents and the HRIS, including recording all current and ex-employee data.
  • Supporting the HR Manager and HR Director in collating MI and other reports.
  • Drafting key documents including Contracts of Employment and Training Agreements,
  • New Role Review process administration and co-ordination.
  • Creating agendas for and minuting HR and Recruitment meetings & distributing action points thereafter.
  • Minuting and taking notes for HR meetings including Disciplinary, Grievance, Performance Management and Departmental planning.

What you need:

  • To hold, or be working towards the CIPD Level 3 qualification and at least 2 years’ experience within a generalist HR role, preferably in the legal sector.
  • To be competent with HR software, such as Cascade and have a good working knowledge of GDPR and Employment regulations and legislation.
  • To be passionate about supporting employees, senior management and colleagues across a variety of HR topics.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £22,000.00-£24,000.00 per year
