Job Summary – The Deputy Clerk/HR Assistant works under the direction of the HR Manager and is assigned operational responsibilities in a high-volume, fast-paced office with frequent deadlines. This position provides support for a myriad of HR functions. It ensures the court’s instructions are executed and legal documents are prepared with accuracy and in accordance with state and local policies. You must be committed to providing excellent customer service to a diverse population.

All employees currently receive a 15% county salary supplement in addition to the state salary.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities – The HR Assistant has a wide range of responsibilities including but not limited to answering employee HR benefit questions; processing new hire paperwork and resignations, assisting with county salary supplement paperwork; filling-out state personnel forms; scheduling interviews and setting up interview packets and orientation books; performing criminal background checks through VCIN; handling requests for employee access and ID cards; creating PowerPoints, flyers, and bulletins; and maintaining confidential files.
This position acts as a backup to the HR Manager and other teams as required. It assists with employee appreciation events, employee orientations, job, and intern fairs; and fulfills other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent, and some college, and HR experience are preferred. This is an entry-level position working in a professional office environment. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to work independently, and as part of a team. Time management skills and the ability to type 45 w.p.m. are required. This position requires computer skills and the ability to create PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, and flyers. Preferred applicants will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be willing to assist the public, outside agencies, and co-workers in a courteous and efficient manner.
Physical Requirements – Lifting, and bending to retrieve files.
