Job Duties
Provides quality professional human resource services to employees at an adult correctional center. Interprets policies and procedures and provides guidance on benefits, leave, FLSA, payroll, human resource transactions, FMLA, workers’ compensation, and other human resource functions. Resolves issues between Human Resources and Payroll, Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM), Budget, and Department of Accounts (DOA). Encourages, promotes, and enhances the healing environment by modeling the way and utilizing creative means to improve customer service delivery.
Minimum Qualifications
High School graduate or equivalent. Valid driver’s license. Strong interpersonal skills.
Extensive working knowledge of generalist human resource functions, to include all of the following: leave administration, complex payroll transactions, employee benefits, and workers compensation. Working knowledge of Federal and State laws, policies, and procedures related to human resources. Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, and apply human resource policies and procedures and to consult with management and employees. Demonstrated skill in the use of a Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) in entering and compiling data. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications:
Some college coursework from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, a related field, or equivalent applicable experience or training. Professional Human Resources certification.
