Job description
We provide care and sheltered accommodation for elderly people across England. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for our residents, in a stimulating environment to help maintain a socially active life. Abbeyfield is more than a home; it’s a neighbourhood, a community, a family. Our core behaviours are to be welcoming to everyone, celebrate the positives, work collaboratively, take responsibility, and be adaptable to changing circumstances.
Best of all, we’re a charity, meaning that the interests of our valued staff and residents sit at the heart of what we do, not shareholders.
The Role
As one of our valued employment law and employee relations experts, you'll be the primary source of timely professional advice and support for our front line operational managers. Skilled at translating employment related challenges into clear and practical recommendations, your coaching style will enable and empower operational decision makers to make sound judgments based on business risk.
This is a home based position, with occasional travel to our services and for team meetings across England. In additional to overseeing a varied caseload, this role gives you the opportunity to shape and re-design Abbeyfield's employee relations, by ensuring we're up to date and reflect best practice, and by translating your experiences with the front line into improved policy and process.
Further, to bring new developments and improvements to life, your profile in the business will be enhanced further, as you'll provide managers with training, to improve their capability and confidence, ranging from how to conduct complex investigations, to improving workforce culture.
About You
You'll have a recognised Level 5 Foundation (Certificate or Diploma), or relevant HR or business degree, ideally working towards Level 7. And you will already be an experienced and highly accomplished HR Advisor, HR Consultant or similar, used to providing 'hands on' support to remote, geographically dispersed clients. You'll therefore have demonstrable experience of providing tailored practical employment related advice to line managers, in line with best practice established HR policy, process and procedure, based on risk.
With strong problem solving skills, you'll help managers evaluate options and consider alternative approaches, weighing up pros and cons, to arrive at an optimum solution that balances business risk with opportunity. With a strong customer focus; you'll develop a positive working relationship with managers from day one, to ensure you influence the decisions they make for better business results.
