HR Advisor
Location: Fletchers Bakery, Sheffield
Shift: Weekdays (On-Site and Hybrid Home Working)

Our Fletchers bakery has over 125 years of baking tradition, with our Kara bakery supplying delicious wholesale bakery products for over 35 years starting with the first floured bap. Both have been part of the Finsbury Food Group since 2014. Fletchers Bakery can trace its roots back to 1895 and both bakeries portfolio of products have risen (get it?) to include gourmet brioche, traditional sliced bread, bloomer breads and vegan and gluten free options, to name a but a few.
We are recruiting for a generalist HR Advisor to join our HR Team on site at our bakery. The HR Advisor will be responsible for supporting the business with all aspects of HR, such as providing advice and guidance on best practice, legislation, Employee Relations, Recruitment, Coaching Managers, Employee Engagement and People focused projects at Group Level. They will report into the Senior HR Advisor and Regional HR Manager, while working closely with Site Management to embed the culture and values that are key to the business and supporting local levels of management and employees to ensure the best performance in a motivating environment.
To be successful in this role, the HR Advisor will either be working at a HR Assistant/HR Officer level who is looking for their next career move or with be working in a similar generalist HR Advisor within a fast paced environment. They will have experience of managing Employee Relations case management and a good working knowledge of UK Employment Law. The HR Advisor will also need clear English verbal and written communication skills, as they will be multi-tasking in a fast paced environment and liaising with colleagues, unions and suppliers at all levels on a daily basis. The successful candidate will be confident and engaging as they will need to effectively challenge and work with stakeholders on site to deliver the people agenda. They will have strong administration and planning skills. We use various People IT systems, so the candidate must have excellent IT skills and strong attention to detail.
This role offers the opportunity for Hybrid working with the ability to work c. one day a week from home. We also offer on-going training and career development, including supporting with your CIPD course.

This is what you’ll actually do!
As the HR Advisor you’ll report into the Senior HR Advisor and will be working with the HR team to implement the Company’s people strategy and implementing companywide initiatives. You’ll manage employee relations cases which include, but not limited to; disciplinary, grievance, performance management. In addition to administration this may include coaching, providing advice, considering best practice and evaluating risk in relation to the best course of action.
As the HR Advisor you’ll support end to end recruitment, including salary benchmarking, recruitment briefs, advertising, job descriptions, person specification, interview scripts and social media recruitment campaigns. While ensuring the company applicant tracking system is accurate and maintained. You’ll also offer coaching and support to line managers in line with the company recruitment and selection policy.
You’ll report on key HR metrics for management on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Providing insights to the managers and larger HR Teams on the KPI’s, therefore accuracy, attention to detail and clear communication skills are crucial. You will also build line manager capability by providing a coaching role to the line managers ensuring they work closely with Supervisors and Team Leaders to ensure that individual performance levels are achieved ensuring consistency of approach, providing guidance and support where appropriate. You will proactively work with your business area ensuring employee absence processes are being adhered to in line with the absence management procedure, work with the OH team in managing short and long terms cases to resolution.
Involvement in HR focused projects and implementing HR strategies is a key part of this role. You’ll have to opportunity to work cross functionally with the larger Group HR teams and other areas of the larger business.

- Previous experience in a similar generalist HR position in a fast paced working environment
- Ideally CIPD qualified or working towards Level 5 – We offer support with CIPD courses!
- A good working knowledge of UK Employment Law
- Ability to work well under pressure in a busy, fast paced environment. The successful candidate must be able to perform a variety of duties whilst being resourceful and maintaining flexibility.
- Confident with communicating with a wide range of stakeholders.
- A working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.
- Highly organised and detail oriented, with good administration skills
