Our HR Advisers provide pragmatic, commercial, legally-compliant HR advice and guidance to line managers. You will join a team of HR professionals who support and coach line managers, helping them to resolve ER issues within their teams in a manner that preserves the manager/employee relationship and builds competency and performance in line with our values
Main ResponsibilitiesProviding advice and guidance online and by telephone across the full spectrum of ER issues, particularly discipline, grievance, capability/performance management and sickness
- Proactively managing ER cases and escalating complex or sensitive cases to appropriate colleagues.
- Providing HR advice in line with service level agreements and business rules. This includes reviewing and tailoring supporting case documents where appropriate
- Promote use of the Manager Self Service tool to build Manager confidence, accountability and self-sufficiency in dealing with and supporting People matters within their team.
- Maintaining a positive outlook when providing advice towards resolving a particular scenario.
- Provide guidance to line managers on how to manage potential ER issues at the informal stage prior to any formal action and necessary follow on actions
- Provide additional support where the Manager has undertaken Self Service but requires further coaching or advice on how to conduct meetings, including meeting preparation and how meetings should be chaired and concluded
- Ensure all hard and soft copy personnel records are maintained and secure, complying with obligations under the Data Protection Act and segment specific requirements
- Capturing and tracking all advice and key information on our case management system to ensure accurate recording of case advice and case data; which feeds Management Information Reporting
- Produce due diligence data as required and within agreed timescales
- Support the ongoing refresh of employment policies and toolkits, including research, consulting with colleagues and stakeholders, drafting, and supporting communications roll out as appropriate.
- Deliver key HR/ER projects with the wider team, including reviewing Manager Self Service Tools, case management process improvement, ER data insights capabilities and ER related training.
- Identify wider areas for process and policy improvement to streamline management of ER matters to improve experience for line managers and employees, avoid future issues and better manage situations going forwards.
- Compassionate and supportive style.
- Able to provide remote ER support across different Divisions and Stakeholder groups
- Experience of providing ER advice in line with relevant policies and legislation; OR line manager experience having routinely managed ER issues
- Well organised with the ability to plan, prioritise and manage high volume of case work and queries to meet deadlines
- Experience of dealing with an array of Low, Medium and High Risk ER matters
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Resilience and with the ability to work at pace and bring new ideas and improvement to process and ways of working.
- Good working knowledge of current employment legislation and its application in the workplace
