About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Housing Options Officer to join a new team, delivering end-to-end housing options services in response to an emerging area of demand within Crawley. We are looking for innovative and enthusiastic individuals, driven to deliver quality customer centred services.
Key responsibilities: You will be delivering all aspects of the Council’s statutory homelessness duties, from processing homeless applications, providing advice, handling temporary accommodation placements, to discharging housing duty.
You will have:
- the knowledge and experience to successfully fulfil the responsibilities of the role
- an excellent understanding of the relevant legislation and statutory duties
- excellent verbal and written communication skills
- a proven track record of working with other services and professional organisations to support customers and achieve positive outcomes
Crawley is an exciting place to work, with a vibrant town centre and excellent transport connections. We recently moved into our new Town Hall so it is a great time to join us as we settle into our state-of-the-art offices with excellently designed spaces that facilitate collaborative working. We have a hybrid working set up which allows a balance of working from home with at least two days in the office.

- Fixed term contract for 24 months
- Full current UK driving licence and use of a suitable vehicle for work purposes
- A Baseline Personnel Security Standard check is required as part of this role, and that will also entail the successful applicant undertaking a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check
- Participation in the Standby Scheme (please note the standby payment is currently under review and could be subject to change)
- Due to the sensitive nature of client contact, the roles stated on this job description are exempt from being able to be considered on a job share basis
