POSITION OVERVIEW:
**This role is based in San Rafael, MARIN COUNTY, NORTHERN CA.**
Ritter Center is looking for our next Housing First Case Manager.
In this vital role, you'll advocate for people experiencing a variety of complex needs, including mental illness, chronic illness, and physical disabilities, and who face many barriers to maintaining housing.
You’ll coordinate local resources to help clients obtain supportive services such as mental health services, In-Home Support Services, educational or vocational counseling, and assistance to maintain benefits through Medi-Cal, SSI, and other entitlement or benefit programs.
The ideal candidate has previous experience in Housing Case Management for people with recently experiencing homelessness or similar needs, is naturally compassionate, responsible, and solution-orientated, and can quickly understand the needs of people living in poverty.
This is a FULL-TIME, NON-EXEMPT role reporting to the Program Manager for Case Management.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Communicates with individuals from a person-centered, trauma-informed care approach using motivational interviewing to evaluate, assess and determine the extent of service/support needed.
- Conducts assessments and regular visits to develop comprehensive care plans and tracks progress in required databases.
- Monitors and charts each visit in a timely manner while making appropriate referrals as needed.
- Assists and acts as an advocate for program enrollees in locating and retaining appropriate housing. This may include assisting with rent and security deposit negotiations and payments, move-in process, obtaining needed household items, and other tasks related to maintaining clients’ independent living.
- Provides mediation and advocacy for participants between landlords/property managers.
- Coordinates and provides flexible support services and skills training to participants once they are housed, with the objective of helping them to stay housed and to achieve the goals set forth in their coordinated care plan.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Previous experience as a Housing Case Manager
- Equivalent to a four-year degree from an accredited college or university in sociology, psychology, counseling, or a closely-related field and three years of experience in mental health, social services, or a community services organization. Significant experience may be considered a substitute for education.
- Principles and techniques of Housing First and Harm Reduction concepts and of the social service and mental health fields; assessments, interviewing, and recording and tracking care plans.
- Ability to navigate public assistance, social service programs, and public housing practices to help coordinate care and communicate client needs effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills; able to build and maintain long-term effective rapport with individuals.
- Meticulous record-keeping via online databases.
- Proven ability to develop effective treatment plans.
- Must possess a valid California class C driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.

VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS:
Per OSHA requirements, employment at Ritter Center requires compliance with being able to produce a negative TB test prior to the start of employment and being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (unless applying for an exemption) per the August 5th State Public Order for Healthcare Facilities, providers and employees.

Medical benefit eligibility begins at 30 hours weekly, and other benefits (holidays and sick and vacation time-off accruals) are available to those employees working at least 16 hours weekly. Eligibility begins first of the month following 60 days.
