Job description
We’re recruiting for three Housing Allocations Officers; two permanent roles plus one on a 12 month fixed term.
You’ll be responsible for a busy and varied caseload assessing applicants for the housing register. You’ll select applicants to match them with city council properties in accordance with our policies and with national legislation.
Ideally, you’ll have some knowledge and experience of working within housing allocations or similar roles within social housing.

Role Responsibilities- Provide guidance and support to customers accessing the housing register. Ensuring they understand the Housing Allocation Scheme.
- Provide advice and guidance to customers accessing other housing solutions such as sheltered housing schemes, downsizing and mutual exchange.
- Assess applications to determine eligibility for the housing register and managing rejections where applicants do not qualify.
- Responsible for the allocation of city council housing and nomination to housing associations. Ensuring the correct processes are followed and correspondence is accurate.
- Working collaboratively across teams and partner organisations to ensure our customers are supported through the allocation process.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, have an empathic approach and ability to adapt communication style to suit different situations
- Experience managing a busy caseload and ability to plan and prioritise your work to meet targets and deadlines.
- Experience of housing allocations and competent in the process of assessing applicants and allocating and nominating housing stock.
