Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Hospital Porter to join The London Clinic, which is one of the UK’s largest private hospitals, with state-of-the-art facilities located on Harley Street. We have circa 1300 employees, a total of 8 premises, and we are dedicated to providing the best, personalised healthcare with a breadth of surgical and medical expertise.

This role is based across our Main Hospital in Central London (Close to Regents Park & Baker Street tube stations), and we have a competitive salary on offer of up to £22,984 per annum.

Job Profile

As a Porter you will be responsible for cleaning and servicing hospital areas to ensure the safety, health and morale of our patients’ recovery, by helping provide a clean, attractive, safe environment with minimal interference to others.

  • Job Type: Full Time, permanent position working 40 hours per week.
  • Shifts: 8 hours per shift, according with the rota (the service covers the hours of 7am to 10pm). Working 5 out of 7 days including weekends.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Floor Maintenance, General portering & Linen portering duties.
  • Sweep, mop and wet-wash floors and external perimeter, as well as wash and polish floors, sinks and other plumbing fixtures whilst replacing disposable such as paper towels, soap and toilet paper.
  • Assist in the transportation of extra beds, hoists, special mattresses, and any other item appertaining to the Housekeeping department.
  • To check stock levels of linen on the floors and ensure the safe delivery of clean linen to each floor.
  • Distribute toiletries and stationery to the floors, as well as collect and transport both refuse and clinic waste and also remove furniture and beds supplies.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience working as a Porter, Cleaner or Housekeeping Assistant within the Healthcare or Hospitality industry.
  • Knowledge of infection control procedures
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with a cheerful disposition.
  • Highly motivated and adaptable individual who possesses excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
