JOB DESCRIPTION

HOUSEKEEPING

Line Manager: The Home Manager

Purpose: To provide a high standard of cleaning.

1. To ensure the cleanliness of all floor areas noting daily, weekly and monthly tasks to include dusting, hovering, damp dusting etc.

3. Damp dusting and thorough cleaning of all furniture, fixtures and fittings (moving light equipment if necessary).

4. To ensure that we maintain the cleanliness of all areas including the cleaning of internal paintwork, doors, window frames, skirting boards etc.

6. To ensure the changing of curtains is completed as per infection control policy.

9. To ensure that all team members work safely and abide by all COSHH regulations, colour coding and to clean and store all domestic equipment in accordance with agreed procedures and ensure other workers comply.

10. To ensure staff adhere to the cleaning schedule and reduce malodors.

11. To be familiar with all Home policies/procedures, particularly infection control and use of PPE.

12. To work as part of a team, attending staff meetings and training if required.

13. To respect client’s independence, privacy and dignity when entering private rooms.

15. To maintain confidentiality and take care of the building and report any defects or repairs.

18. To audit and inspect the work carried out by domestic staff.

19. To be aware of Infection Control, reducing infection and effective cleaning measures.

20. To repair and mend any damaged goods.

21. To ensure adequate/appropriate stock.

22. To recommend or purchase ‘homely items’ as necessary.

  • To discipline and direct other workers if shortfalls occur in systems.
  • To be aware of product use and reactions.
  • You have a duty of care to have the appropriate vaccination relevant to protect the vulnerable clients that you serve.

Specific Laundry- when laundry assistant on leave

  • Wash all personal items, observing name tags and washing instructions.
  • To prepare contract linen for collection and count the stock as directed.
  • To record linen stocks and returns to avoid stock loss.
  • To utilize appropriate bags for linen transportation.
  • To wash/dry clothing and replace back in original room hanging neatly or storing with care.
  • To iron garments as required.
  • To utilize equipment in accordance with instructions.
  • To be aware of infection control and COSHH.
  • Remove old and warn out items.
  • To keep the laundry area clean, noting workflow: clean v dirty.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent, Zero hours contract
Contract length: 12 months
Part-time hours: 12 per week

Salary: £13.00 per hour
