An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, hardworking, friendly and dynamic individual to join the team as a housekeeper on Ward 2 and Burns team at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

Ward 2 and Burns has 22 beds and is a Trauma, Orthopaedics, plastics and Burns unit, caring for children of all ages along with their families.

Responsibilities for this post include ensuring a high standard of cleanliness in both patient and non-patient areas, ensuring adequate stock levels, monitoring and ordering supplies as necessary. Ordering patient’s food and providing patients with meals, drinks and snacks as requested.

The successful candidate will need excellent communication and organisational skills and will be able to work well with all members of the multidisciplinary team to enable everyone to provide excellent care to patients and families.

  • To help maintain a high standard of family centred care by providing a safe and suitable environment and that shortfalls are dealt with quickly and efficiently.
  • To work in partnership with staff and parents to try and adapt the environment in order to meet any diverse and special environmental needs
  • To support in a non clinical way those who provide direct patient care
  • To co-ordinate services provided by the Estates and Facilities and will work closely with support services departments.
  • To monitor quality standards in the role of Ward Housekeeper, report deficiencies and take appropriate action
  • To meet specific tasks for individual patient needs as will be determined by the nurse-in charge

  • To have sensitivity of cultural needs
  • To co-ordinate dietary requirements following established Food Handling Policies
