Job description

Multi-trades Recruitment are currently seeking a dedicated Cleaner to join our NHS site in Cardiff. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to cleanliness, infection control, and creating a safe environment for patients and staff. The Cleaner will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of various areas throughout the hospital, ensuring a clean, sanitised and welcoming environment.

Monday - Friday
7am-3pm
Weekly pay
£10.42ph

The ideal candidate will already hold a Basic DBS certificate & Food Hygiene Level 2

Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks in assigned areas, including patient rooms, operating rooms, common areas, offices, and restrooms.
  • Adhere to established cleaning protocols and infection control guidelines to prevent the spread of infections and maintain a safe environment.
  • Clean and disinfect surfaces, furniture, equipment, and fixtures using appropriate cleaning agents and tools.
  • Empty and dispose of waste and hazardous materials in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Restock supplies, such as soap, hand sanitisers, paper towels, and other consumables, as needed.
  • Monitor and report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate channels.
  • Collaborate with the environmental services team and other staff members to ensure a coordinated and efficient cleaning schedule.
  • Follow all safety regulations and protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or similar environment is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of infection control practices and cleaning techniques specific to healthcare settings.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately.
  • Good physical stamina and ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Effective communication skills to interact professionally with patients, visitors, and staff members.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Understanding of proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and biohazardous waste.
  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment and the ability to use them safely.
