Job description
Multi-trades Recruitment are currently seeking a dedicated Cleaner to join our NHS site in Cardiff. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to cleanliness, infection control, and creating a safe environment for patients and staff. The Cleaner will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of various areas throughout the hospital, ensuring a clean, sanitised and welcoming environment.

Responsibilities:
- Perform routine cleaning tasks in assigned areas, including patient rooms, operating rooms, common areas, offices, and restrooms.
- Adhere to established cleaning protocols and infection control guidelines to prevent the spread of infections and maintain a safe environment.
- Clean and disinfect surfaces, furniture, equipment, and fixtures using appropriate cleaning agents and tools.
- Empty and dispose of waste and hazardous materials in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Restock supplies, such as soap, hand sanitisers, paper towels, and other consumables, as needed.
- Monitor and report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate channels.
- Collaborate with the environmental services team and other staff members to ensure a coordinated and efficient cleaning schedule.
- Follow all safety regulations and protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a healthcare or similar environment is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of infection control practices and cleaning techniques specific to healthcare settings.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately.
- Good physical stamina and ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Effective communication skills to interact professionally with patients, visitors, and staff members.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Understanding of proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and biohazardous waste.
- Knowledge of cleaning equipment and the ability to use them safely.
