We take pride in providing a clean, safe and homely environment for young people. Working in our friendly and dedicated team, you’ll maintain hygiene and health and safety standards within our residential settings, and ensure they comply with OFSTED regulations. You’ll become a vital member of the team offering consistent face to face support for young people in our care.

This is generally working day time shifts Monday to Friday with the potential to work occasional weekends. Working in a team of 15 to 25 staff, you’ll work on a rota system. We are a growing service and are expanding from 6 to 8 homes over the next two years and we are looking for staff to support us with both our current homes and our upcoming projects.

What you’ll be doing

On a day to day to basis, you’ll complete various tasks such as cleaning surfaces, vacuuming, emptying waste bins and carrying out basic sewing repairs. You’ll manage the laundry which includes sorting, washing, ironing and distributing the linen.

Using life skills, you’ll have the opportunity to make a huge difference within a young person’s life. Helping them to overcome any difficulties or disadvantages they may face – allowing them to strengthen their future. You’ll support the young people to develop their independence skills, having a real impact on their day to day living and proactively implement the council’s environmental policies.

What you'll need

You'll be a compassionate, empathetic person who will be able to support young people who are vulnerable but can be challenging at times. With knowledge of health and safety regulations you'll be able to use and maintain cleaning equipment including vacuums. In addition, you'll have experience of cleanliness and hygiene. The service is looking for a consistent team member who is flexible and willing to get stuck in.

Under the Equality Act 2010, you must be aged 21 and over. Appointment will be subject to an enhanced DBS.

What we can offer you

As well as the satisfaction of helping to improve thousands of lives across Leicester, you can look forward to a work environment that encourages a healthy work/life balance. You’ll enjoy generous annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme. We’ll also give you the chance to develop your skills and expertise with a variety of training and development opportunities. In addition, you can choose from a number of flexible benefits, including childcare vouchers, discounts on city buses and trains and help with relocation to Leicester, where appropriate.
