This role sits within the House of Lords Property and Office Services and is an exciting opportunity to join a small team of Housekeepers on a permanent, part-time basis. This is an essential function within the House of Lords, working to keep our UNESCO world heritage site clean and tidy, as well as getting the opportunity to work with historic items, from Pugin furniture to heritage furnishings. You will work in unique surroundings including the House of Lords Chamber and State Rooms on a daily basis.
The Role
As a Housekeeper you would be responsible for cleaning areas that are designated daily which would fall within the House of Lords and Victoria Tower. You would need to be flexible in your approach, regularly rotating onto other areas as required by the team.
You would be required to follow cleaning methods that are sympathetic and appropriate to the heritage collections and fabric of the building. You will carry out enhanced sanitising cleaning along with daily and periodic cleaning duties.
The hours for this role are 06.30-10.00am, Monday to Friday and so you would be required to attend work on the Parliamentary Estate during those times.
The Person
This position is a great opportunity for someone who has some experience within similar roles and so has a basic understanding of COSHH, Manual Handling and Health and Safety within a cleaning context.
The successful candidate will possess and be able to demonstrate the below essential competencies:
Good standard of communication with ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Able to use initiative and take a flexible approach to work duties.
Ability to work well within a team structure.
Basic awareness of COSHH, Manual Handling, Health & Safety, and Customer Service. Prior training in these areas would be advantageous.
Some knowledge of the workings and functions of the House of Lords.
Ability to always maintain a consistently high standard and a professional attitude, with the focus in conjunction with the team leader on delivering high levels of customer satisfaction.
Working knowledge of basic computer skills which may include sending and receiving e mails, text, completing on-line training (Desirable).
