Purpose: Ensures that all guest rooms, service areas and public areas are maintained to hotel and SHPH standards. Achieves maximum efficiency and guest satisfaction. Coordinates the day-to-day operations of housekeeping under the supervision of the Housekeeping Manager. Is responsible for quality, operation, productivity & staffing.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Ensures the maintenance of a high standard of cleanliness hygiene, guest comfort and courtesy
· In charge of the housekeeping areas, in the absence of the department manager
· Supervises room attendants, laundry attendants and house persons to ensure that assignments are carried in the proper manner and in accordance with hotel and chain standards
· Supplies House Persons with guest and cleaning supplies
· Maintains security procedures and standards with respect to keys, fire drills, lost property, hotel property, etc.
· Assists in the training of staff
· Supervises the general cleaning of guest rooms and public areas
· Cleans guest rooms and assists in the linen room or laundry as required
· Ensures room status is recorded and updated regularly, manually and in the computer system
· Assists in the demonstration of new methods and equipment
· Handles lost and found articles according to hotel policy
· Closes the department for the evening
· Does a complete floor check (3 times per shift) ensuring all corridors are clean, service doors are locked, etc...
· Maintains constant communication with front office staff regarding room status
· Ensures all out-of-order rooms and check-out rooms are verified
· Keeps accurate records in log books
· Handles all guest requests politely and quickly
· Regularly checks the house count, making schedule changes and advises staff, when there are rises and falls in occupancy
· Is fully prepared for fire alarms, bomb threat procedures and other safety requirements including the providing of emergency medical assistance. Ensures that Housekeeping staff is adequately trained in these procedures.
· In the absence of the Housekeeping Manager performs certain of his/her duties such as scheduling,
payroll and purchasing)
· Responsible for the taking of annual linen inventory and monthly supply inventories (amenities & paper supplies)
· Performs other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Manager.
Requirements:
· Two year experience as a Housekeeping Supervisor/lead housekeeper
· Minimum grade 10 education, preferably grade 12
· Fluent in English, preferably bilingual (French)

Salary: $27.50-$28.80 per hour
