Hotel Maintenance Technician LEGOLAND California, 1 Legoland Dr Carlsbad, California, 92008 United States We are LEGOLAND California Resort - the place where FUN is built and memories are made. Across our Resort we have two fantastic LEGO themed Hotels, a Water Park, a SEA LIFE Aquarium, more than 60 rides and attractions, 20 food and beverage locations, and 14 retail stores – the opportunities here are endless! Scope and Responsibilities: Keeps safety as #1 priority. Wears appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follows instructions of handling materials based on their SDS (safety data sheets). Follow applicable building codes, ordinances, and regulations of State and local authorities including OSHA. Always follow LEGOLAND California policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with internal maintenance, safety, and security procedures by following established ASTM, NEC, State and local electrical codes, and loss prevention guidelines. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 18 years old. Follows established maintenance programs, including any emergency repairs as required to keep down time to an acceptable minimum. Ensures that all equipment and work areas are kept clean, neat, and orderly at all times. Operates simple machine tools, such as drill presses, power saws, grinders, power drills, hand tools, etc. Recognizes equipment that needs repair, replacing, or adjusting and reports it to supervisor. Keeps tools, machines, and all other company equipment in clean and proper working order. Attends department training, supplemental courses, and seminars to stay up to date on updated technical information and products. Is a liaison with fellow maintenance MCs and other departments. Responds to emergency calls within the hotels, for repairs and maintenance as directed by the maintenance supervisor. Requires a demonstrated flexibility to handle a wide range of highly complex and challenging duties throughout the hotels, with extreme care, focused attention, and skillful precision. Have a positive attitude and a love for FUN! Friendly, outgoing personality. Ability to make a child’s day memorable. Work as part of a team. Ability to work outdoors in any weather condition. Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time, and long distances. Flexible Availability around resort (peak and nonpeak times). Ability to work nights/weekends/holidays through agreed upon employment. Advises working supervisor and/or management of any discrepancies in equipment or tools. Ensures that all work assigned is completed and of good sound workmanship. Must have experience in basic painting, plumbing, Drywall repair and patching, electrical, carpentry etc. Stays informed and updated on modern techniques and technical methods. May be required to assist in a variety of other maintenance-related tasks depending on the needs of the department and employee capabilities. Background and Experience: Requires a minimum of four years of experience in facilities maintenance and repair. Considerable knowledge of the practices, tools, and equipment used to troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems is required. Must be able to react under pressure or in an emergency in a calm and rational manner. Ability to read and evaluate reports and correspondence. Must be proficient in basic math skills. Ability to read blueprints. A friendly, polite, guest service-oriented demeanor is required. Education: A high school diploma or general education degree (or equivalent education and experience) is required. Other Requirements: Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to support resort operations. Must have valid driver’s license, safe driving record. Compensation: The compensation rate of pay is $20.00 - 25.00/hr *Compensation is dependent on previous work experience and skillset* Physical Demands/Work Environment: This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Involves lifting at least 25 lbs. and up to 50 lbs. in some departments. Work typically performed outdoors in various weather conditions.
