Production Assistant Job Description
Production is the core of our operation. We strive to create the highest quality product, and we do so by working as a team. As a production assistant, you will be required to bring an open mind, a willingness to learn, a passion for gelato, and a positive attitude. It is paramount that you are also enthusiastic, focussed, and determined.
This role encompasses a variety of tasks, which can be segmented into four main areas: production, manufacturing, cleaning, and packaging. Production involves converting intermediary components into a final product, such like gelato and semifreddo cake making. Manufacturing is the process of transforming raw ingredients into a finished product, such as making gelato. As we operate within the food industry, having a clean place of work is significantly important and a pivotal part of this role. We take pride in a secondary branch of our services, wholesale. Our wholesale operation involves a systematic approach to the mass manufacturing and packaging of goods.
Production is split between two premises located in St. Andrews and Glenrothes with the opportunity to work in both locations.
It is a physically demanding environment, requiring manual handling and unvarying tasks, particularly during busy periods. A good level of flexibility is required in the role, to cover changes in service and locations, coverage for absences, training, etc.
· All training will be given, no experience required.
· Driving License preferred.
Work Hours: Full Time day time hours, 40 hours per week. Weekend Availability essential.
Main Roles and Responsibilities
General Responsibilities
1. Manufacturing and production of gelato and other frozen produce, including product packaging and storage.
2. Thorough cleaning, working and maintenance of all plant facilities (including machines, equipment, building interior and exterior).
3. Follow all company and production operating procedures and good working practices in manufacturing processes.
4. Must comply with departmental documented procedures, update and complete as necessary
5. Follow all Health and Safety and HACCP procedures.
6. Maintain the highest product quality standards.
7. Assist in quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives.
8. Meet production goals and timeframes to support operational and business goals.
9. Work well as an individual and team to meet the needs of the department, colleagues, and customers.
10. Maintain effective lines of communication with colleagues, supervisors, and management.
11. Ensure all recipes are always stored and remain confidential.
12. Ensure that you always have an exemplary standard of personal hygiene and appearance.
13. Maintain a clean and tidy working space throughout the working day.
14. Maintain a full knowledge and understanding of all business and production policies and procedures.
15. Carry out any instructions given by a supervisor, manager or a member of the management team with accuracy and precision.
16. Following training, must adhere to required health and safety practices, such as food hygiene, fire, COSHH, first aid, manual handling and accident reporting.
17. Always seek assistance if unable to meet requirements.
18. Have a ”can do” attitude and flexible approach to work.
19. Be flexible in taking on tasks outside of the production department.
Holiday
28 days holidays per salary year. Holidays cannot be guaranteed during school holidays due to high demand for the business, unless previously agreed upon by Managers/Owners.
