Job Summary
Our seven-bedroom social enterprise guesthouse, The Portland, requires a Hospitality Assistant to support the team covering various roles. We’re looking for a flexible, approachable and friendly individual who is willing to take on several roles around the guesthouse including, but not limited to Front of House duties including welcoming and checking out guests, Housekeeping, and cooking & serving breakfasts. The role will include some sleep-in shifts, between 10pm-7am where possible prior to an early shift or following a late shift. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in hospitality or customer facing roles. As part of the role, you will be required to work with and set examples for Vulnerable adults. Supporting them with the practical tasks of their hospitality course. Only applicants 18+ will be considered due to working times and lone working.
Responsibilities and Duties
-Cooking & serving breakfast
-Housekeeping to a five star standard
-Answering the phone to respond to current and prospective guests
-Checking in and welcoming guests on arrival
-Relay guest comments and complaints to management in a swift yet discreet manner
-Occasional sleep-in
-Work with and support service users whilst completing the above tasks
Skills
-Flexibility with days & hours including weekends, mornings, and evenings
-Excellent oral and written communication skills
-Familiarity with hospitality industry
-Customer service experience essential
-Experience working with vulnerable adults, preferred but not essential provided willingness to show support and compassion
-Willingness to learn a variety of roles
-Ability to work individually and as a part of a team
-Skills to prepare and cook a variety of breakfast dishes are desirable
