An exciting opportunity has arisen in our play team. We are looking for a Hospital play specialist to join our team and create there magic through play. We are looking for someone who is committed to providing therapeutic play interventions to the children and young people that attend our hospitals at sandwell and city site. The successful candidate must be committed and passionate, and hold the Hospital play specialist foundation degree qualification or equivalent. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent communications skills, and leadership ability in managing the play team.

You will be allocated a team leader and buddy for your journey within our trust to help with transition in to the role.
The successful post holder will need to be able to engage with children and young people, and be able to work effectively within the multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will need to be creative, flexible, and committed , friendly and approachable when using therapeutic play techniques throughout the Paediatric department . You will need to create an environment in which normalized play occurs naturally, whilst demonstrating and promoting the value of play as a contribution to development, and the recovery of a child.
The hospital play staff cover the Paediatric unit cross site, which includes Lyndon one our inpatient HDU ward, Lyndon Ground our PAU/Adolescent unit, PAU city site. Priory ground which covers surgical day and investigations. We then have cross site outpatients departments, along with both City and sandwell A&E departments. The play team cover specialized play to all patients from 0-18 years within the trust across all the listed areas.
We are also working towards relocation of the Paediatric unit to our brand new hospital at the Midland Metropolitan site in the spring of 2024, we will require the play team to participate in the pathways for play to ensure smooth transition of services.
